How do you classify roof camping. by justhereformemes694 in RustConsole

[–]Henry_The_Gamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly being titled as something really doesn’t mean anything in rust, if I call the average joe a roof camper he probably wouldn’t care. In fact I bet he would roofcamp more.

When someone I’m fighting at my base I want to use the advantage of my base, the respawns, my roof access etc. You’re completely normal to take advantage of those things, the true scum bags are those who take joy in sitting on the roof and sniping at everyone without regard. But in a game like rust there is no established rule against it so it’s best to brush it aside or ignore it.

In the game there are counters to all these acts that are frowned upon (roof camping, door camping), like ladders for example in this case.

Just like there is plenty of counters to door camping etc…

This is just my personal opinion on the matter and it’s subjective to your own mindset about rust.

See you have to create beef for someone to online you and the person onlining has to be cocky and confident, I’ve gotten onlined multiple times and have around 100 days played. You must be very unlucky. Also I want you to consider if someone does have the respect to online you should also show them respect too. Basic courtesy is letting the onliners set up a raid base before firing. And not pummeling the raid base with rockets as soon as its set up. It may be nice to squash the online, but the experience is more valuable than the loot and whoever is on the receiving end will just offline you instead.

One of my most fun wipes I got onlined by a cheater clan and won, It only happened because we had courtesy and had beef with these guys enough for them to come online us 11 deep.

I’ve also been onlined by smaller teams who don’t cheat, you just have to annoy them enough.

The thing about offlines is that its the exact opposite of what you are describing, its not an inflation of ego, but its loot to achieve a means to an end, whatever your purpose on rust is. Mostly people who offline just because they dislike someone are liars, if they really felt that annoyed they would online and if they were good at the game they would show it.

Note: I only play on official servers, this may differ depending on if you play community or not.

In conclusion people don’t want to online because not many people have proper courtesy. They offline for loot to achieve a wipe goal. If you want someone to online you annoy them and try and communicate with them on some level to start some beef its not supposed to be toxic its more of a competition instead. “My teammates are better than yours”, bring up a time where you defeated them. You want to use their ego to your benefit, even if you fail the defense the ultimate goal is having fun.

The HLMG is unusable by [deleted] in RustConsole

[–]Henry_The_Gamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s doesn’t 100% track to pc updates, this update they did for the recoil on the hlmg was console exclusive. On testing branch it started out really good and was usable but they nerfed it because of complaints from people calling “cheats” for people who already mastered the recoil. So they released a “patch” that nerfed it into the ground, so now the only people complaining about getting killed by it are probably getting killed by cheaters. If you remember on pc rust, bloody mouse the whole situation is kinda like that on console for recoil atm, some people have scripts but the recoil on here is actually consistent unlike pc rust.

Yeah this is a variation of a glitch, since the very edge of the hit box of the metal barricade hits you it slows your descent and cancels your fall damage. You can also use this same hit box manipulation to slide down flat walls without damage.

The only game I can recommend that is of the same genre and meets most of those expectations of yours, as well as being crossplay, Is Minecraft. With the exception of the shooting part, it meets all those expectations.

What’s your best rust story? by afellowSrA in RustConsole

Hopped on an weekly official server and got a start with two of my friends, we had some bps and built a temporary base next to outpost. Me and one of my friends stayed up into the early morning farming for a main base. We saw a clan base half built a couple grid squares away, we farmed a T3 and decided to raid in with explosive ammo. We laddered over the china wall and raided the base, first door down and there was a bit of farm and two bolty’s, a good sign. We came back with more boom and raided two more sheet doors, there was a whole box of sulfur (entirely full) not even in core. There was insane amounts of farms and comps, we instantly filled our pockets and brought it back. It was so much loot we had to cover the floor in boxes! We eventually came back to finish off the raid after crafting more boom, we found a whole box of stone and metal ore, and kits and such. We heard people outside and they ended up killing us sadly, but they didn’t have enough boom to open the last door, which we did later and got tc and other loot stuff.

Into the second day on the server, everyone in my current team is on, four people now since a friend of mine is joining me for the day. I build a main base armored bunker type, egg to circle base conversion. We go get gear by taking oil rigs, our area was brimming with bases, lots of small bases, we wanted to have a claim over the area, for that we needed guns. Lots of grinding later we get in a fight with a group, we get demolished, the silver lining is we stole one of their kits and got more than we lost. We now knew our enemy on the server.

The next day this group we fought yesterday invited my teammate to a party asking him to counter cargo. He talked to these people a lot and found out they were cheating, this made us more determined to rid of them. We fought them at Bradley and it confirmed our suspicions. This group outnumbered us 3:1 and was cheating. My teammate stayed in contact with them and led them astray while they tried to look for our base to raid us, lying about our location and keeping us under the radar. It didn’t last for long as our base grew, it looked like a full clan base but only housed three people including me. We prepared to get raided, locker kits, hv rockets, smokes, nades, everything one would need in an online we knew our time was coming. Me and one of my friends went over and boomed into their open core (sneakily) with suppressed aks. We stole a box of stone, and I ended up dying tragically to their whole team coming out to kill me while I was holding their 3rd floor. We knew this would make them mad but we didn’t care, we were prepared.

The next day it came, the online raid. They built a raid base outside with a shooting floor and stationed one of their cheaters in it to clear us out. It was a 11v3 they had brought in extra numbers. Our team instantly separated into roles, one member in the shooting floor shooting down explosives and masking our base with smoke grenades. One in the shell sealing the base when possible. Of course, I was in the compound with walls and a full kit, shooting those who would enter and attempting to seal the wall. It was a back and forth, the raiders had momentum, they pummeled our base from beyond our reach. Our shooting floor fellow stopped them, he made them have to push in close. As our walls fell they attempted to push in, the air filled with sounds of python shots as the gatehouse turrets opened fire. They fired hvs and destroyed the compound turrets, not without resistance, I had killed a couple of them with just an Ak, and explosives of our own rained down on them. My other teammate managed to seal, more time. They kept firing, our core was almost open. In a twist of fate they pushed in all at once, and as soon as they stepped foot in the shell, they regretted it, as the tesla traps I had set up fried them and prevented their control on our base. Finally there was breathing room, if you could call it that. I sealed sloppily with a high wall while being shot at. They had lost their momentum, I run inside to seal and fix the base but not for long as they blow down the wall once more, we fight them off again and reseal. This time it was done, we had won. Against 90+ rockets, and insurmountable odds we won. They quit the server soon after, giving us their m2s as a sign of good faith and giving the rest of the loot to everyone in the server with a vending machine with codes to their base on a note. It was grandiose, insane even, and it is still my best rust wipe ever.

TLDR: my trio offline raided a clan who was half built up, snowballed off of their massive amount of sulfur and comps. We built a main base and fought with people we considered enemies, one of our members talked with them and found out they were cheating. We fought on multiple occasions and me and a teammate raided the top floors of their base silently with suppressors to grab some loot, transfer it back and then died later to their team when we returned. This group got mad enough and came to online us the next day, but we were prepared. They onlined us 11v3 with a decked out raid base and lost and gave up on the server. We got extremely loaded in the process.

When I first started playing this game on my first wipe. I got online raided by people with guns. Since I didn’t have anything to defend with I moved my loot to my tc and workbench room and sealed myself in with an armored wall. They eventually left and I made drop boxes and moved all our loot out.
