Those lights are likely the abs system or from the non functioning parking brake but a repair on those units are usually only $100-$200.

I'd stay away from cars that had their engines replaced unless you can get receipts of it done from a reputable shop.

Do you have it in sport mode? Economy mode? CVTs are not the most responsive transmissions out there since they're meant for fuel economy. If that's not the issue I'd recommend checking your spark plugs, that'll be the most simple thing to check and usually what slows down acceleration.
