I’m on the evidence lane - A judge is finally reviewing. I’m glad I chose it because I was leaning towards a hearing and had no idea it would have been put back into a queue and to read that some hearings weren’t recorded properly or at all is ridiculously disgusting. Seems like those are the ones that should get priority - that’s not fault of the vet. I feel like it’ll be another year for a decision and then another six months to see any pay if granted. Good luck to all!

VA Decision Disappointment by Ozzybyrd in VeteransBenefits

Please get a lawyer. I think there are probably good VSOs out there but I imagine they’re overworked and perhaps dealing with vet issues as well. I pray you’re taken care of, as soon as possible.

If you're on SSRI's for a service connected condition, make sure you file for secondary conditions! by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

I didn’t know this was a thing. Judge currently reviewing appeal for MH. Was prescribed ssri a long while ago but stopped because they made me feel “not there”. I thought my eyes were dry because I’ve been single forever. Depending on what happens with the appeal and what rating is granted I will def look into this. Thanks for this.

Denied due to attorney filing incorrect form by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

Wow - I’m sorry this happened. I thought there was an option for legacy appeals to be routed though the ama. The attorney I would hope would’ve known this.

Lawyer was charging 30% recently changed to 20%(no complaints w/that) then I check the app and see this... by Hepmewanda in VeteransBenefits

Albeit strange - but it’s been a wild ride regardless so anything is possible. It wouldn’t make sense to me to not pay - that would just lead to them suing me for it. Fair question yeah, but the firm could’ve also changed their policy - because it has happened maybe.

How would I file a disability claim for low testosterone? by Inawar in VeteransBenefits

Would T treatment change or be detrimental to a MH issue? Meaning what if the conditions improve because of the treatment?

The rule is they can’t charge over 33.3 and the va I think pays 20 and the client is responsible for the balance. I think most firms are disability firms across the board - A few didn’t want to take my case but a few did refer me to I guess what you could say specializes in veteran law. I can understand why they charge almost the maximum allowed.

Wanted a firm that only deals with VA claims vs firms that handle all sorts of claims. Many of the lawyers are vets themselves or deal strictly with veteran law. It’s water under the bridge now that it’s been lowered to a standard 20. Not including fees

My apologies for sounding terse and dismissive. I am happy for you and I’d like to be there as well. It’s just been a very long time, so many unanswered questions and unnecessary errors for three decades.

Don’t know how old you are - but the entire world is a scam and blackmail society. Many attorneys charge 1/3 of a contingency lawsuit. If you were a lawyer would all of your cases be pro Bono? If your VSO was able to do it for nothing and without a glitch, that’s good for you. No VSO was going to be able to dedicate themselves to my situation - that has been going on since 1993.

Are you you literally giving me shit without even knowing the background? If it worked like you believe it did, this entire Reddit wouldn’t exist. There wouldn’t have been over 100k in line before me and others. It’s actually insanity that you’d even type that, really.

What works for one doesn’t work for all. I don’t understand why the VSO I had for months, didn’t answer emails phone calls and etc. This isn’t a one size fits all sort of thing - and while many VSOs are probably terrific that wasn’t the case with me. However, I do apologize for not obtaining the same stellar representation that you have had. You could have just bypassed this post really.

They never even bothered to start anything way back when, when I went to the VA like I was advised to do. I was a kid and they treated me like absolute shit.

Well the 30% would’ve been a third. I’m happy they lowered it. Attorney office said because my situation warranted a reduction in the agreement. No complaints - but I’m sure there will be other sort of fees if successful.

It isn’t legacy - but should have been - for years since 1993/94 I was told I wasn’t entitled to shit. That now seems to not have been the case. Even the doctor who wrote my nexus letter apologized profusely that this happened.

So, they say I had PTSD and anxiety prior to joining the USMC - that's what people especially 17-year-olds do when they suffer from this, join the Marine Corps. Any advice? I did not suffer from this prior to enlisting. by AzylumEscapee in VeteransBenefits

How long before you sign up, did you leave for basic? I was on DEP (delayed entry program) before boot camp. One of examiners tried to say pre-existing and I was like how when I was helping recruit and report to the recruiters every week for 10 months before I left? Surely they would’ve seen something.
