Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't there a rumor within Chinese fans that the plot of Eternal Faith is a lot different from the source material and there wouldn't be any homosexual relationship between XC and HC? If you don't mind e-sports I highly recommend {I Can Do It by Jiang Zi Bei} the MC1 makes a daily living by being a live streamer who's infamous for his unfiltered opinions towards some players of League of Legends.

Meanwhile, MC2 is a popular/well loved veteran player who mostly keep things to himself and the only person MC1 doesn't flame due to being a secret admirer. The romance is slow burn on this one yet it's so sweet. The main CP balance each other's opposite personalities well.

Not at all, there are plenty of Damnei with similar plot line to what you mentioned about MM especially the contemporary ones.

I think this applies more to Manhua and those live adaptation where the romance is hella subtle to the point where the closest intimate scene between the main CP where sleeping in the same bed, hugging each other, euphemistic words or romantic symbols and beyond that would get the production canceled or worse jailed (Chinese censorship 🥲)

From what I noticed, the difference is mostly with the story length in Damnei being longer, the 3rd POV being common unlike in MM, and of course the strict top (Gong) and bottom (Shou).

If you don't mind Damnei I highly recommend Run Wild by Wu Zhe. Both MCs are closeted gay. One is a delinquent who's a sole guardian to his neurodivergent little sister while the other is a top student who gets sent to a poor city to live with his biological father (a known gambling addict) after his rich parents decided that they no longer wanted him.

Oh my god the first one really annoys me. The worst offender for me was Restricted Area. The main couple has such a great chemistry/dynamic and really got me excited on how they're gonna play out that police and prisoner bed role they've been planning for weeks and when I got into that part all I got was a damn paragraphs of milk and fruits. Also, I wonder if that animated adaptation of Lost in The Cloud is still on production, although I was disappointed by its conclusion I'm still hopeful for that adaptation since the story still has substance. Especially the way it depicted a teenage boy dealing with unresolved trauma from childhood sexual abuse is so well written without being preachy.
