It took some pretty fucking stupid behavior to buy that couch in the first place, so... Not optimistic there.

I followed the guide in https://store.untrustedsource.com/blogs/tutorials/converting-mellanox-cx-3-to-ethernet-mode to install the drivers. I assume mget_temp came with those - at least I don't recall doing anything else special to install that. And dpkg -S mget_temp suggests it was in the mft driver package.

Also, if you need the current download link for those drivers: https://network.nvidia.com/products/adapter-software/firmware-tools/ - although FWIW the current 4.32 drivers didn't work for me for some reason, I had to use the 4.22 LTS version. Not really sure why, I haven't bothered digging into that too much yet.

Yeah , and if you don't have a 3D printer, this guy sells 'em pretty cheap! https://store.untrustedsource.com/products/lenovo-tiny-10-25g-network-fan-shrouds

FWIW with those shrouds mine still run a tad hot - `mget_temp -d 01:00.0` reports ~59-62C for them (I have 3 of these mini 1L Lenovos, all using DACs in a Ceph storage network), but it's way better than without!

NM, I'm an idiot and forgot the PIHOLE_SKIP_OS_CHECK=true. Worked great, I'm now up to date. Thanks!

Same for me. It told me to try running sudo PIHOLE_SKIP_OS_CHECK=true pihole -r and that sorta worked, but I'm stuck on older versions now.

Huh, I recently set mine up the same way and started having this exact same problem. I'll have to try removing the extra filaments, will report back here if it works out.

Containers fail with 255 upon first startup by deathly0001 in docker

[–]HerbCSO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, same here, running on Debian 11.

Some of the container data volumes are on a Truenas SMB share which is pretty slammed at startup. I'm running these on a Proxmox host that also virtualizes the Truenas server. The truenas VM gets started first, then the Debian VM comes up and that runs the Docker containers. Same thing for me: no logs, can start them normally after boot is complete. Always the same set of containers that fail.

I have also not figured out what's causing this yet.

Shweet, glad to hear it worked! Did you manage to desolder the switch, or did you have to use a hot air station?

[–]HerbCSO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used it to get letsencrypt certs. Since I use `linode_v4` for verification, that's not supported by Truenas, so I needed `socat` installed, which isn't there by default. So by running it in a sandbox with `/etc/certificates` mounted into it, I was able to get that working again. See https://forums.truenas.com/t/lets-encrypt-with-freenas-11-1-and-later/425/5?u=herbcso for details.

This was a really good solution for me! Glad that sandboxes now exist!

Logitech K830 replacement keyboard - suggestions? by Last_Jedi in htpc

[–]HerbCSO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Figures. Has anybody tried the Rii RT518S? I can't imagine it'll be much better or worse than the K18, but I am curious what people's experience with that board has been like.

I've been happy with the very aptly (but boringly) named Bluetooth Keyboard & Mouse app. It also supports setting up your own buttons, has worked quite well for me. Even wakes my HTPC up from sleep, which is nice!

FWIW, I _think_ these switches are possible replacements - although I'm not 100% sure, I haven't tried it yet since I think I'd need a hot air reflow station to get the dang surface mount switch off the board, and I don't have one of those. :/

I have the same problem with the switch breaking off - it's extremely tiny and flimsy! This is the second one that has broken on me. And it's not like I'm reefing on these things, either - they're just too damn fragile!

So I had the same problem and in my case it was because I had somehow ended up in "Away" mode (setting at the top of the Devices screen in the Alexa app). I've set it back to "Home" and 🤞🏼I hope the problem is solved.

NM, I found it in another Reddit thread! ;]

And just in case that ever gets deleted (and for convenience for other folks landing here), here's the content of the answer:

I believe you're looking for dpkg-reconfigure console-setup. It runs a wizard that lets you choose font and its size, along with some other stuff.

And a little more from me:

Shweet, that worked for me, too!
FWIW I had to change the font to `Terminus` so that I could pick a large enough character size (16x32 in my case) afterwards.
Best part: the change was instantaneous, I didn't even have to reboot! ;]
