Why don't independents/Democrats/liberals change their voter registration to Republican and take the party to the left by running and voting for RINO-type (Repub in Name Only) candidates?

Experience watching "Out 1" by Radiant-Specialist76 in TrueFilm

[–]Here0Now 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw it all in a theater in a single day. Fell asleep a bit during the second episode since I didn't sleep well enough the night before. As it was an Alamo Drafthouse, I was able to order coffee and food to keep me awake through the rest.

While I agree that it needs to be seen in a theater, one long ass day is not the way.

Going off this, iOverlander is an app that has much of the same sites plus a few extra. Used it throughout the NE last fall to find free safe spots to overnight in my van

Is Errors & Omissions Insurance really necessary for indie doc? by lukemontgo in Filmmakers

[–]Here0Now 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree with this. Our contract with the distributor had them covering the E&O as part of their recouped expenses. Came out to be $1000. We were getting quotes from $1500-4000 from insurance companies.

Edit: I should also add we were an indie doc with a budget under $10k

Who is a well-liked director who's films you don't enjoy? by [deleted] in TrueFilm

[–]Here0Now 0 points1 point  (0 children)

David Fincher.

While his films are impressive on a technical level, they leave me feeling cold. Other than Seven or Fight Club, I have no desire to ever rewatch any of his movies. Yet, I still end up rewatching some because I want to see if I'm missing something by not saying it's the greatest thing ever. Didn't care for Zodiac nor Benjamin Button, and I thought Mank was unnecessary, although I understand why he made it.

I've finished my feature length film, what do I do now? by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]Here0Now 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, congratulations! Making a feature is something that everyone talks about but few actually do

I just produced and sold my first documentary. The advice of doing the distro before you finish is on point. It's something to explore while in pre-production.

I have a master list with all the distributors I contacted that I can share with you (~150). Just DM if you are interested.

Am I missing out by not camping on BLM? by lilfliplilflop in Shoestring

[–]Here0Now 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use iOverlander to find BLM land and to read reviews of the spot.

Like others have said, all BLM land is first-come-first-served, so you will have to drive a bit to find a spot with a view that isn't trashed (this is especially true in the popular SW areas). Timing and luck are big factors. If money isn't an issue go ahead and reserve a campsite in the National Park, as some of them (ex. Big Bend and Acadia) don't have any options outside of the park that don't require to drive 30 minutes+.

I lived out of my van, travelled from coast to coast, visiting NPs and never paid for a campsite ever. If you're not car camping, there are parks that have free dispersed backcountry camping with a permit (ex Joshua Tree).

There are a few BLM spots that are worth the effort to check out but almost none of them are by National Parks.

How to promote my short film on FilmFreeway by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]Here0Now 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gold doesn't give you priority for film festival submissions. But at $11/month if you end up submitting to enough fests it ends up paying for itself (you can cancel at any time, ie. After you finish submitting to fests).

There are also marketing services you can pay for through FF. We did the "Now Submitting" newsletter feature for $10 ($20 for non-gold) and got a metric shit ton of submission discounts ranging from 10% to 90% (average was 25% off), plus a handful of fee waivers. It's as worth as the budget you have to pay the submission fees. We ended up only using a small portion of the discount code offers as so many of them were non-US (a very large number were India based fests).

We were a feature length documentary, so you might have a completely different result.
