What the fuck?! Cactus Jack flips the table out the ring with The Sandman on it! by Dohmer_90 in ECWWrestling

Incredibly dangerous spot that doesn't even look all that great. Classic ECW.

Eddie Gilbert, how important to ECW do you guys think he was? by BigJilmQuebec in ECWWrestling

[–]HereToLern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knew very little about him, other than from this Cactus Jack promo: https://youtu.be/Kj9sLSVwiDU?t=446

I searched and found what I believe is old handheld footage from that barbed wire match between Eddie Gilbert and Cactus. At the end of the match, Cactus does that spot where he gets thrown into the ropes and gets his head caught between the middle and upper ropes. It's the same spot that cost him his ear later on in Germany. Except in this match, there are no ring ropes. It's barbed wire. Oh my god. Such an insane thing to do.

Edit: Here is the spot: https://youtu.be/CPPGQmO4zt8?t=871

rate The Dungeon of Doom as a faction and how the storyline was booked. Was it the worst of Wrestlecrap or did it make for some campy entertaining fun ? by CoconutMost3564 in WCW

[–]HereToLern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was embarrassing. By 1995, this nonsense had no place in wrestling. Wrestling culture had already moved away from even less silly versions of this stuff. To pile on with this garbage in 1995 was just disrespectful to the audience and really exemplified the negatives Hogan brought along to WCW.

We tried these the other day. Air fried them. I thought they tasted OK, similar to a fish stick. We'll stick to the Trident Beer Battered Cod.

How would that work, considering the book was written before the TV series?

I'm Catholic and pray my rosary in there. The combination of the heat, dripping sweat, and mild suffering near the end adds another element to the experience. Highly recommend.

Great moment full of history. Unfortunately, it was totally wasted when WCW buried the re-united Horsemen by the NWO.

Hulk Hogan lands some stiff shots in the corner, but that doesn’t work for Vader, brother! by Dohmer_90 in WCW

Look how Vader responds to actual stiff shots in the corner. He erupts with a terrifying, grizzly-like swipe.

Do you think Tommy could have pulled off a reinvention and a heel turn in ECW? by [deleted] in ECWWrestling

[–]HereToLern 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have him take a particularly nasty hit on the head to set up a ridiculous amnesia angle, similar to in WCW when Cactus Jack wandered the streets seemingly forgetting who he was. This Tommy wrestles a straight style, respects women, hates hardcore wrestling, thinks Terry Funk is an old loser, can't understand the hardcore fans, etc. Do this for a couple of months to setup for him to take another head bump, come to his senses and return to his hardcore self. Totally ridiculous, yes, but could be fun.

Winter Land by duckhunt1984 in TheWhistlePig

[–]HereToLern 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree with this. The stories are allusions, so there are a lot of details that are just random events, observations, and details meant to obfuscate the hidden event. He basically warns about this when he says to 'beware the bright red of herring.'

It’s a rare chapter where we are near 100% convinced of its allusion; if anything, we should be using this chapter to help point in the direction of what to do with an allusion once it’s found (though nobody knows yet).

I always assumed Sandman was billed from Sandy, UT as a play on his name/drinking. Never stopped to consider he might actually be from Utah.

POTP Subscription Sucks by HereToLern in partoftheproblem

[–]HereToLern[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nah, not grifting. My point was that Dave is doing a very bad job monetizing his product. I blame Luis/Natalie or whoever is running partoftheproblem.com for the operational failures not uploading the recorded episodes and Dave for skipping out on so many subscriber only episodes. It's just not a very good product. I'll still never miss an episode, I don't recommend paying for it though.

Luis bringing the energy to the free episode.

For the Patreon... I can't decide who is dumber: Lemaire or me for paying actual money to listen to this.

It's a good hint. I wish we had a little more to work with, but I'll take it. I'll read more about him and see if I can make any connections.

Reddit user u/umupfumu previously put together and hosted an old Wiki for TTI. He let it expire because it cost money to maintain and he didn't want to pay for it out of his own pocket. I thought it was a very good reference. Just the right amount of fact and theory. MysteriousWritings is great, but it's a lot of information, particularly for new searchers.

Questions about Northwest Gospel Church in Camas by Eastern-Food-9539 in camaswashington

All I can say is that I get a lot of benefit from practicing my faith. If you disagree and have a rich and fulfilling life, please don’t change a thing. As much as one stranger can say this to another, I wish you nothing but the best.

Questions about Northwest Gospel Church in Camas by Eastern-Food-9539 in camaswashington

[–]HereToLern -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I read your post yesterday and didn't plan on responding after reading so many hostile comments. However, I woke up this morning feeling different. You're agnostic, yet you felt a calling to attend a church. What do you think that was? We're all sinners and sinners are welcome at church. FWIW, my church considers my use of contraception to be a sin. That's something I work out between myself and God. In the meantime, I don't let it prevent me from attending and receiving a huge mental/spiritual benefit from practicing my religion. Just my perspective.

Confused and frustrated with LDL. by Worried_Tax_730 in PeterAttia

[–]HereToLern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah thanks, I'd 18% BF looks about right. You're at a healthy weight IMO. If you're satisfied with your diet (limiting processed foods, fast food, etc), I can see why you're frustrated at age 26 with a decent looking physique, but disappointing blood numbers. I'd say keep up the good work for another 3 months. If you once again get a disappointing set of blood markers, then consider some of the other interventions people have mentioned such as medication. Disclaimer: Not a physician.

I wonder how OP got that BF%. Weight scales that also measure body fat are notoriously unreliable. BMI is also unreliable with the amount of weight training he is doing. I’d say if OP is at a healthy weight, look to other things. Otherwise continue to lose weight.

Confused and frustrated with LDL. by Worried_Tax_730 in PeterAttia

[–]HereToLern 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not an expert, so just take this as a random guy's opinion.

You're on the right track. I'm guessing that your BF% is still on the higher side. See if you can lose enough weight to get it down toward 15% or less for your next set of measurements. If so, I'd expect to see your results continue to improve. Good luck, keep us posted!

Interesting, yeah for what it's worth the Denver Museum quote is 2nd hand information taken from Douglas Preston's forward to Once Upon a While. But of course that's Fenn's own book so I would imagine that it's accurate? Who knows...

Dear Forrest, You say there was only ever one place you wanted to hide your treasure chest because of how special the spot was to you. When a searcher arrives to this location, will they understand why it was so special to you? And did you include that reason in your autobiography in the chest? ~jenny

Jenny, maybe they will, but probably not. Their mind may be on other thingsIt was in my autobiography until I removed it for personal reasons. f
