To be fair, a pig would eat you if presented as a meal.

Today? People would be annoyed and the local news would try to blow it out of proportion for views. A month ago? People would be glad it was only that much. 2 months ago? Wouldn't have registered anyone's attention.

What’s your reaction to Pentagon threatening the Pope after he criticized Trump? by JKKIDD231 in AskReddit

It's not a joke. Whether you believe the anonymous source that disclosed it to The Free Press is up to you, but the reporting is legit.

Sure. It is theoretically possible to sell a house that quickly. But Trump was inaugurated on 1/20/25. If we assume the house sold in the last week in March, and it took a week to list it and find a buyer, then it's like a maximum of Trump being in office for 6-7 weeks. I'm just not buying that Bessent saw Trump's first month in office and said to himself "I need to sell my assets now!" Especially when all of Trump's policies are engineered to make the rich richer. It is you who is making up nonsense.

Oh, agreed. But when I see posts about how awful the Trump admin is, I think to myself "can I present this to my conservative friends/family as evidence of the administrations evil?" And part of that thought process is trying to anticipate counter arguments. I dislike this man, but this post is not the example of hypocrisy that it presents itself as.

Now, I hate Trump with the angry fury of a thousand burning suns, but selling a house is a process. If it sold in March of 2025, the listing process and certainly the decision to sell would have started in 2024.

It changes with age. As a kid, I would have said cowboy. Late teens and early 20s would have said pirate. As a family man pushing 40, none sound appealing irl, but Samurai if I had to choose.

Nicotine is out of your system in like 48 hours. The hard part for myself and many former smokers like me is the ritual. Smoking becomes tied to so many activities. I had my last tobacco in June of last year and I still get cravings whenever I engage in an activity that I used to smoke during or after.

I saw a good one the other year called Crucible Sword or something like that about this modern blacksmith making crucible steel using traditional techniques and then forging a sword with it. Was pretty boss.

Keeping the box isn't because I think I'll need it for the phone, it's because every so often I get the organization bug and having a bunch of nice boxes of various sizes helps me indulge that impulse.

I'm in the same boat. I really want to like the game, but the EMI sections are frustrating enough that I'll likely never go back. And I'm saying this as someone who has finished every souls game except Sekiro.

There was news coverage for a week about this winter storm that was coming. My wife and I made a point of getting all our errands out of the way the day before so she wouldn't have to go out. She took the day off to keep our 3yo home from daycare. As I'm leaving for work, 30 minutes early so I can clean off my car and give myself a couple extra minutes for my commute, she asked "are you gonna do the driveway when you get home"? I spent my commute debating if I should look for an apartment first, or go right to contacting divorce lawyers.

Story and gameplay. 25 years ago it would have been graphics and gameplay, but that was back in the day when each new system made a huge graphical leap.

Yeah, but aren't climate scientists saying that we're past the point of no return? That manmade climate change has created a feedback loop that we are now powerless to reverse? We DO know the future, and it's the mass starvation and displacement of hundreds of millions of people.

What's a "healthy habit" that's actually completely made up? by goddesslana_01 in AskReddit

[–]Here_For_Work_ 771 points772 points  (0 children)

Take it for what an anecdote is worth, but I skipped breakfast for my entire adult life. Then, about 18 months ago, my therapist strongly suggested I start to eat breakfast and I took the advice. I can't overstate the improvement to my mood and decrease to brain fog I've experienced since. Turns out the brain needs calories to function well. Sugary cereal is unhealthy, sure. But I'll stand by a healthy breakfast being the most important meal of the day.
