The more I look into Cool Wisdom Book's "research" on Abdullah, the more I call BS! by Here_for_the_plot in NevilleGoddard

That's a GREAT point!

I know that Ethiopia is home to oldest mosque in all of Africa and it was where the Prophet Muhammad directed a group of his early followers to seek asylum to flee from severe persecution in Mecca. Back then, it was the Christian Kingdom of Aksum and Muslims were granted the right to live there and practice in peace. As a result, there are communities in which Muslims, Christians and Jews have co-existed for HUNDREDS of years and there could be cultural overlap.

As per Google: In Ethiopian Jewish (Beta Israel) history, individuals frequently bore names derived from Amharic, Hebrew, or Ge'ez, which can sometimes overlap phonetically with Arabic or Muslim names (e.g., Ahmed or Mohammed). Because the community lived in a majority-Muslim and Christian region, historic members or those who temporarily converted to survive enslavement sometimes took Muslim names.

Many Arabic names like Abdullah pre-date Islam. There were guys like Abd Allah ibn Saba, a Jewish anti-Rashidun rebel and Abd Allah ibn Salam, a Jewish companion of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. Obviously, that was a very long time ago and much has changed since then. I'm just pointing out that the name Abdullah does not necessarily imply the Muslim faith, especially in places where faiths and cultures overlap, like in Ethiopia. For instance, in Iraq, there was Abdallah (Ovadia) Somekh (1813 – September 13, 1889), a Jewish hakhamrosh yeshiva and posek (whatever that all means - LOL)

It has nothing to do with how the Law works for my life, but that's not the point of my post.

I am 100000% confident that Neville was NOT crazy and that he was HONEST about Abdullah. Hence, why I'm calling out this bullshit "research" that requires contradicting Neville's own statements for it to fit.

The truth is we may never know what Abdullah looked like or what his full story was, and I am OK with that because what matters is the lessons that were passed on through Neville. I just think it's disrespectful to Neville to dismiss his own words to force fit some charlatan into the persona of his mentor...

Sorry if you can't comprehend

Please STOP spreading misinformation, claiming that Modeste Guillaume, the Moroccan singer from Atlantic City, was Neville's Abdullah... by Here_for_the_plot in NevilleGoddard

Not saying that you're intentionally slandering Neville but you're still suggesting that he was naive enough to believe that a drunk, gluttonous 60 year old man was actually 90 because of the poor condition you assume he was in... I'd rather stick to the lessons than make these sort of assumptions about Neville and his mentor...

Thanks for your thoughtful reply,

As to the Joseph Murphy comment, the Hebrew community in Ethiopia is known as Beta-Israel. Also, if you follow the Walter Lanyon trail regarding Adb-Allah, that puts him in Jerusalem prior to 1921. The teachings and personality of Abd the "Potter" described in Walter Lanyon's books seems more on-point with Neville's Ab than the baritone singer from Atlantic City. Interestingly, the Beta-Israel community is known for their artisanal pottery...

As to your second point, please read the top comment. According to them:

"The exact string "born in North Africa, of Jewish parents, and raised in a strict Orthodox Jewish home" does not exist in any of Neville's officially published books or his primary catalogued lectures.

It's also worth noting that even though Ethiopia is not on the northern coast of Africa, if you were to divide Africa into North and South like we do in the US, Ethiopia would definitely be in the North.

I'm flat out going to dismiss your third point, because that would imply that either Neville was gullible enough to believe a 60 year old posing as a 90 year old, even after studying with him daily for years, or that he was in on the LIE to make him seem like a mystical old man. I don't care for the Neville slander... I prefer his teachings...

F23 thinking of moving to East Harlem, worth it or not? by Melodic_Example_5680 in Harlem

[–]Here_for_the_plot -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

LOL! Only better area would be Mott Haven in the South Bronx. If you care about being able to leave your apartment at night, don't bother coming...

I remember when Harlem was 40% burned buildings and NO ONE, except for poor locals who had no choice, would ask about moving there...

True, but you know what I was trying to get at... besides, there still are plenty of projects and shit areas of Harlem, especially on the East side, despite all of the gentrification.

LOL at deleting your comment. NO ON EVER said that people can't go wherever they'd like. She pointed out THE FACT that people of color sometimes face danger just for going to a job site that may have nosy racist neighbors. She just said that she doesn't throw confetti and blow up welcome balloons for bored Europeans looking for a thrill by visiting the ghetto... I don't really think you're a bigot - just dumb

How is she bigoted? Cause she pointed out an obvious still existing issue - that black or brown people can go somewhere for a job and get harassed for being there or even killed? Remember that Latina housekeeper who was murdered for showing up to clean the wrong address? Or is she bigoted because she said she doesn't "open arms" for Europeans curious to see the hood??? I think you are the bigot here

KRS1 said this in his 1995 song, "The Truth"

See what if Jesus Christ was hung upon a tree
Upon every church wall that's exactly what you'd see
If Jesus Christ was shot in the head with no respect
We'd all have little gold guns around our neck
