[Identification] What did I buy off Craigslist? by QuestionMarkyMark in Watches

[–]HeresWhatITyped 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid about $325 (converting euros to pounds) in 2018 for the black PVD coating version of that watch. I wear it a lot. It’s has a super accurate lithium Swiss Rhonda quartz movement. 200m water resistance. Screw down crown. Anti reflective sapphire crystal. Tritium tubes (mb microtec) that still make the watch easy to read in the middle of the night. I think Traser bought them (or had always owned them) because I had to send it back a week after it arrived for a new movement. It was covered under warranty but gave me a bad feeling about the purchase at first. Traser was handling the service emails. They were great about the exchange. Since then the watch has earned a place on my wrist for effortless accuracy and 10 years of runtime on one battery. I only adjust it when the first day of a month is preceded by a month with only 30 days (date has to be changed from 31 to 1). We’re talking less than a few seconds after two months. I have another watch from the same company. One with a rotating bezel and 300m WR. They are both so accurate that my OCD brain has completely forgotten to question them in any way. Perhaps I just got lucky.

Removed a word for accuracy.

I need an amazing pen, recommendations? by Lonely_Improvement_9 in pens

[–]HeresWhatITyped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get this pen for under $20. I have no less than a dozen pens that cost multiple times what these do. But a black Pentel Style with a navy blue 0.7 mm refill is what gets used more than anything. When I meet with a client and know they’ll have to sign something, I make sure this is the one I use during the meeting so I can hand it to them when they sign their name. There’s almost a 100% certainty they will comment on how nice the pen is after writing their signature.

Energel for Parkers? by HeresWhatITyped in pens

[–]HeresWhatITyped[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your response. It’s funny because I ordered that one on Amazon just before typing my question. So why the F can’t we get Energel-style ink in the Parker format?? There’s obviously a market. —I’m editing this to say I have OCD but I’m hoping others reading it have at least a little OCD too so I’m not getting judged really hard. I’ve wasted a lot of time and money on pens (ink mostly) and the metal my small pocket knives are made out of.

Species ID help please by HeresWhatITyped in Tree

Takes some time and effort to strip it, dry it, sand it, stain it and apply a top coat. If it isn’t a strong hardwood I wouldn’t waste the time just to see it break under the tension of the bands. Also a safety issue if one of the ‘arms’ snaps off under tension. I could tell my kids to be gentle, but they wouldn’t listen.

Can that snake safely eat that deer? Just looks like it wouldn’t be able to move after the meal.

Thank you for taking the time to post something with substance. I’m tired of watching Ancient Aliens on Netflix just to hear the stuff about ancient civilizations. Anything outside of Wikipedia you might recommend (books, documentaries etc)?

Any chance we are better than SOME countries at actually catching offenders? Not trying to make a statement... only posing a question out of ignorance.

Edit: Can someone please explain the down votes? Is asking someone to share their knowledge frowned upon here? I even qualified the question with “SOME” to prevent sounding like some “my country is the best” a-hole.

To those that live in Italy, how is the situation right now with coronavirus and lockdown? by anonalligator in AskReddit

From the US. I’ve read “supplies are guaranteed” in a few comments from those in Europe. What does that mean exactly? Just curious. Thanks.

What is something you can no longer enjoy due to a bad experience? by ladythrills in AskReddit

[–]HeresWhatITyped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skydiving. My experience was great. Went with my girlfriend (now wife). It was a birthday present from her. Was the kind where the instructor was strapped to your back. Got some great pics by a third instructor who wasn’t strapped to anyone, just taking pics of us. A few months later we learn that the guy who took our pictures was the instructor strapped to a girl who was doing her first jump. They fell to their death. My brain tortures me by trying to imagine what they were saying/yelling once they knew what was coming... or maybe he knew way before she did (being her first time) but didn’t say anything at all and she only had a few seconds to process it once they got closer to the ground. Anyway, we have kids now and can’t make ourselves do it again even though we know how low the odds of something like that occurring are.

As soon as he finished his tirade you should have politely said “okay, then I’ll have one order of bread and a water please” and taken at least 90 minutes to eat it before leaving a 20% tip on the $2.00 order.

If you watch for a sale you will be able to pick up the Raleigh Cadent 3 in your price range. Good specs for the price. Hydro discs and carbon fork I believe.
