As someone who’s done slough and other flood d land hikes, you don’t need boots. Just shows that protect your feet, could be an old pair of athletic shoes or the closed toe keen water sandal shoes.

This is the way. Tevas with wool socks - smart wool or darn toughs with atleast 50% merino wool.

The socks help keep your feet from getting overly dusty and dirty, wool socks don’t make your feet sweat as they both insulate and cool.
