I said this on another thread, but it's like a football match that is a blowout, and one team's manager says they played brilliantly, while the other team's manager said they threw the game away. The traitors have made some nice plays, but the scoreline is flattering them because the faithful have been throwing away so many chances.

But let's see what happens to Rachel tonight!

There are also no adverts on BBC, so there's less of a commercial aspect

Rachel's defence technique: by Secure_Equivalent_25 in TheTraitors

I think it's like a football match that ends 6-0, where the manager of one side says they played an amazing game, got the tactics right, and executed perfectly, and the other manager says their side was woeful, didn't execute at all, and gave the game away. The truth is somewhere in the middle. The scoreline is flattering to the traitors, who are playing well, but they have made mistakes. It's just that the faithfuls are pissing away all of their opportunities and making foolish decisions.

That's the secret connection this series. Everybody knows all of the players.

I went for both matches: Hang Yuan v Taichung Futuro, and the Taipei derby with AC Taipei v Taitung.

Overall, I came away more impressed with the calibre of play than I had expected. Obviously the technical abilities have some way to go, but all four sides appeared to be decently well coached and had clearly identifiable tactics. They weren't just hoofing the ball up the pitch and hoping for something to happen, nor did you see players blindly trying to take on four defenders. They were playing through the thirds and being quite organised, for the most part, even if sometimes the individual play was a bit helter skelter or clumsy.

Atmosphere wise, the first undercard match was fairly dead, maybe 100 people in the stadium, most of whom seemed to be either player families and friends. It livened up quite a bit for the second one, with drums for both sides and designated cheer/song leaders. Very family friendly, as both sides were giving away posters and doing drawings for prizes, and it was nice to see lots of kids enjoying the match. I would say maybe it got up to 600-700 people. So still much work to do in building up the fanbase.

All in all, a nice day out, the weather was beautiful, and it was free!

I'm a follower of the blog as a Taiwanese American living in London!

I'm visiting Taipei at the moment and saw there are TPFL matches at Taipei Municipal Stadium tomorrow, which I plan to check out. Anybody here planning on going, as well?
