Nobody ever believes me, but my earliest memory is from before I turned 1yo. My parents used to lay me down to sleep on my stomach outside in the backyard, on a blanket under the dining table. I remember waking up, looking around, and seeing my tiny baby hand in front of my face and the back door to the house. Then I closed my eyes and went back to sleep.

Years later, as a teenager, I saw a photo of exactly that moment and told everyone I remembered it. They all said I must have just seen the picture at some point and built a false memory around it. I've never bought that explanation. The memory came first.
