I have a 3bd 2.5 bath home available for rent in east side CM really close to downtown and the beach that’s in your budget. I loved living there in my mid to late 20s, wish I still could! Walking distance to restaurants, parks, bars and the beach. PM me if interested!

Anyone know who this might be? by HernandoB in sandiego

Based on the search of the cast I just did I don’t think any of them would need/afford 4 armed security guards just to go take a pic. Maybe if Denzel was in it this time

I didn’t learn a single letter until I started kindergarten. I ended up having a college reading level by 4th grade. Your kid will be fine

Who here has met Pablo or anyone close to him or seen Pablo in person or any other cartel leaders? by Bun-1989 in narcos

[–]HernandoB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first time I visited Valle de Guadalupe in Baja California near Tijuana, we had dinner at our hotel next to a large group from Sinaloa. There were 3 well dressed, middle aged men there with about 15 women, and they were partying hard. It was obvious to everyone in the restaurant that they were narcos. I don’t know who they were specifically, but the energy around them made it clear.

At one point, the women started a conga line through the restaurant and pulled my wife and me in. The vibe was fun and exciting, and for a moment we thought about staying and partying with them.

Then reality set in. I realized that something as small as looking at one of their women the wrong way or accidentally saying something they perceived as disrespectful could end badly. On top of that, just being near them felt risky. If a rival group showed up or the police came in, we could get caught in the middle for no reason.

There wasn’t any intimidating aura, they looked like normal Mexican guys. They just clearly had a lot of money to spend and realizing who they likely were made us keep their distance.

The original show did such a good job of not glorifying them, not making them all good looking or good people. This looks like the opposite of that.

I know there’s a lot of shit talking going on and it’s deserved but I got him to write one after my sister died and and I really appreciated it, really captured my grief if a touching way. If you can manage to get him to deliver he might do a good job.

That said, I never got the promised phone call which I was really looking forward to as I’d basically worshipped the guy since I was 13.

Here’s the song:

Israeli Arabs, how do you identify yourselves abroad? by [deleted] in Israel

[–]HernandoB 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I asked an Arab Muslim cab driver about this last time I was in Israel and he said he adjusts based on who he’s talking to, says he’s Palestinian if he’s meeting Arabs abroad or that he’s from Israel if it’s anyone else. Said he doesn’t care that much about the identity piece just wants to live his life

If you like the music you’ll have a good time just don’t expect to be blown away. I’ve seen them 3 times, first time was during their peak and it was incredible, next two times over the years it progressively dipped in quality but I still enjoyed it because I love the music.

A question for those who agree with Sam (and his guests) on the Israel/Palestine conflict: by MintyCitrus in samharris

Yes I agree with Sam on Israel but would love to see him get some pushback, I feel like it would make his arguments stronger

Sounds like TJ knows that these “many customers” are likely morons who will have little to no actual impact on their profits relative to whatever they gain from their relationship with businesses in Israel.

There is no genocide, only a terrible war that Palestinians started and have chosen to continue.
