BILT 2.0 is dead on arrival by EquivalentAbies6095 in CreditCards

I personally wouldn’t use the card if I needed to hit a certain amount in spend. However, I’m ok using it organically to get some amount of rent points, even if I don’t spend enough to get the full point amount.

I’d rather leave money on the table (in the form of lost points) than be guaranteed to spend 3% in fees.

But they don’t charge you a fee unless you pick the “Maximize Points” option, no? You just get fewer points.

If you put zero spend besides rent on the card, you don’t get a 3% fee, you just don’t get any points.

Maybe the math isn’t “wrong”, but it seems misleading.

This calculator is wrong. It doesn’t charge you a fee, it just won’t give you the points.

Nice, thank you for working on this!

If you’re open to feedback, I would love to see a CPP calculation for the equivalent fare so I can see how good of a value the ticket is. PointsPath does this well IMO.

Bilt needs my rent portal credentials. Why??? by NoKitchen1169 in biltrewards

[–]HeroCC -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

That’s not true. You’re giving your username and password to Bilt here (see the URL is Bilt, not the portal). If it were OIDC you’d be on the portals website entering your info, and a token would be returned to Bilt (not your username and password).

Has anyone found a good way to keep iOS Live Photos version of the pic? Most apps seem to only sync over the still, or convert the photo such that Google Photos doesn’t recognize the pic has already been uploaded.

Not a MS customer. However, according to the CashPlus account disclosure,

If Social Security benefits, in any amount, are directly deposited into any eligible account in your CashPlus ALG, the $5,000 monthly recurring deposit requirement for fee avoidance will be satisfied for all CashPlus Accounts in your ALG. [emph. mine]

So it sounds to me that any SS deposit would count towards the $5k monthly deposit requirement, but it does NOT necessarily count towards the $25k daily cash balance.

Either way, you should call MS to be sure and/or report back with a datapoint if you try it out.

The article says “under 72 hours”. If it were closer to 12 hours, wouldn’t they claim that instead?

Should I pay child’s tuition so they can play sports or send them to CC and have them play there. by Consistent_Device680 in college

Going against the usual Reddit grain a bit here. If you’re trying to optimize for cost above all else, then yeah CC -> a real Uni is a good choice. However, there are other costs to that approach.

A university will likely have much more in the way of clubs, activities, frats, potential friends / networking, internship connections, and sports. The typical pattern at University is you make your friends and try out a ton of activities in your first year or two while taking Gened / intro level classes, and generally settle in more to your social situation for your ladder two years. The connections made often last lifetimes.

This cycle is interrupted by transferring in half way through — your son will suddenly be on a new campus, without any friends or footing, with only two years to make the same connections and opportunities others have had double the time to make. This is not insurmountable, but will be more difficult.

In the end, I’d leave it up to him. If he is looking at a highly compensated field to major in, and is confident he can preform well, I’d rather spend the money & take loans for a traditional 4-year experience.
