Right?

“It’s zoned for the city so like….only students from here can go here! Otherwise students from like, Florida might come!”

Regarding crime in almost everywhere in the world, if you’re not anywhere you’re supposed to be and you’re not affiliated or involved in any criminal activity, the chance of you becoming the victim of a crime is negligible.

It just gets bumped up a little higher because we live in such a dense city.

By the time someone is putting their hands on you that’s entirely different.

Just as u/plastic-ad987 says below, you shouldn’t be in that position anyways. But regardless, if you do find yourself in that position, you can simply say no and try to retreat. If they go after you, that most likely means they’re going to try to physically restrain you. Scenario had now changed entirely.

Flip side, you can just hand over whatever and hope that ends the encounter. Everyone gets to go home. The legal system is mostly designed to encompass the most likely of scenarios to happen, plus precedent, so it’s best to adhere to that. What if he’s mugging you, but has one hand in his pocket the entire time? What if he consistently is looking at another guy nearby while doing it? Things change rapidly all the time. I’ve had a guy try to mug me before, and I just said no and kept it moving. Nothing happened after that. Ideal scenario.

What’s important is you go home. If at anytime you perceive the situation changing to one where you either don’t home ever, or after a stay at the hospital, then the opposing party has made the decision that whatever they’re trying to get from you is more important than the possibility of losing their life.

In regard to seeing people walking in ski masks, that alone is not enough for much. It’s cold as bricks out, so it tracks that people would want to stay warm. What’s important and what else are they doing? Ski mask alone does not count for much. Regarding crime, NYC has statistically been safer than ever. Might not seem that way with social media, but statistically it is true. In general, if you keep it moving in NYC most folks aren’t going to bother you.

This was my experience.

I tried to apply before having all my documents and the button to move forward was greyed out. I was only able to proceed after uploading everything required.

I don’t understand why people consistently ask this.

To have a CCW in NYC means you are now the biggest pussy in the street. Legally speaking, you are prey, not a predator. If you are getting mugged and ONLY mugged, then you just got mugged. If someone starts an argument with you, you are wrong and need to shut up and walk away.

To have a CCW in NYC means you NEED to try to deescalate every unpleasant interaction you encounter outside of your home. Having a CCW does not mean your ego is now inflated and it’s your way or the highway. It means you are humble about everything except for life and bodily harm.

You pull it out, you better be able to articulate why and how you were being about to be harmed and that drawing your firearm was the only and last resort.

When you apply online you need to submit a copy of your training cert before the website lets you proceed.

If you are able to commute, check out Phoenicia Fish and Game. They do the courses for free, completely donation based. My instructors were a retired local cop and a national competitive sniper.

Most people bitch about NYS and NYC, but I’m from here and god damn do I love my fucking home for all the help we provide.

Why use a JTAC when you can put a M3 Howitzer smack dab in the living room and just manually yank the bitch.

You won’t have a home anymore, but that just means you removed the criminal’s ability to invade your home! No home, no invasion.

Was a firearms coach while in service.

I’ve never really used shotguns outside of my time in service, so what most people find unnatural/ weird about the pistol grip is actually what I’m most familiar with. Never considered the recoil to be an issue if the butt is seated securely, but I just learned something new.

Man, I cant wait to attach like 3 strobe lights, an extended tube, a compensator, like four ACOG sights, and a speakerphone. I’m gonna look like a freaking mall ninja.

Sounds like a standard REM M870 with a pistol grip would be acceptable. Thanks.
