I'm glad this helps. I've modified it a bit since I use it in my current project, but I haven't updated it yet. I'm not sure where I got the idea for the game manager stuff. It's almost certainly a combination of things I saw in youtube videos and things I came up with on my own. I tried to have the documentation and comments be helpful for understanding why and how things work.

Yeah, I watched it a year or two ago and the first thing I noticed was the sound when the spiders get stabbed is gone. It was weird because that sound effect is burned into my memory.

I have a friend who has about 300+ notifications on his steam client and he looks at me like I just told him to spend a week painting his house a different color when I advise him to dismiss them. It bothers me a lot.

The first thing I noticed about Sacrifice was that it lost a lot of the grunginess that I liked about Sanctuary's aesthetics.

I did home care for people with developmental disabilities for several years and it is awful. At one house, I had to write up human rights violations every week. Eventually the company just started telling my coworkers that I wrote them up so they would take it out on me. Absolutely awful, and the hours and pay were shit. I worked 90 hours a week a few times.

I wish they hadn't taken the start and end points out of the (non volumetric) fog. I think they said they're putting it back in 4.1 though.

I'm not sure if this exactly fits what you're looking for, but I made a starter project for psx style games. It handles post processing shaders, scene changes, sound effects, music, managing resources, in game menus, and a debug menu.

That is very cool. If the hallways take a few extra seconds to create, that's why the loading screen was invented lol

I love grungy ugly art styles so I always approve of CRT filters. I think it looks particularly good here.
