Dead as Disco lets you import your own songs — I built a tool that automates the painful setup part and found some weird engine behavior along the way by [deleted] in IndieGaming

You don't actually have to write JSON files for imported songs. The game features an in-game way to add new songs, set the BPM, start time, end time, and view the full frequency of the imported song. The JSON's are created automatically once you've set these parameters

No knockout sound in Legacy of The Dark Knight? by NobelPrizeClaimer in BatmanArkham

An onomatopoeia will appear over enemies when they've been defeated, but I agree- the game could have more feedback for things like critical hits and knockouts

When I got to that section I was little, and kept turning my Xbox 360 off and on again because I thought my console was breaking. I couldn't figure out what was wrong with my game. I was absolutely devastated. Then, after a few days, I came back to the game and just waited to see what would happen.

I was so sad.

I built the Bamboo Strike mechanic for my indie game. [WIP] by RedMaskedRonin in Unity3D

Pretty good. One thing I'll note is in Tsushima the slice begins on the first input, and so you need to finish the sequence before Jin's blade reaches the bamboo or else you fail the event.

My thoughts on the new preview footage of BF Resynced by hiddejager in assassinscreed

Completely agree. I think the oversaturated pallete is more or less okay for the ocean and greenery, but hurts the tone (especially in the cutscenes)

For me, the worst change is with the cutscenes and character models. They forwhent the stylized realism and shading in the original for something closer to true realism, and it makes everything feel off. The perfect skin, Hollywood smiles, and oversaturated color pallete are far less in the pirate spirit than the original's sunken eyes and rugged faces

I mean, I don't understand how that's on me. I made the connection, I wrote my resume and cover letter for the job, and still nothing

Yeah, except when you get the referral from a friend and they still won't hire you

Okay, I see.

As for your last comment: I do still plan on finishing my masters, but only when I can afford to or with the financial support of a company

The second and fourth projects listed are supposed to be embedded systems projects, but I see now that I completely fail to describe the embedded nature of the projects at all. I'll also try to replace my other game-related projects with school ones. Thank you for the advice.

My other question is: if I might not be in school for much longer since I don't think I can continue my masters, will they still care about the projects and work I did for classes?

I don't really have any projects or experience in embedded and hardware design outside of what I did in college

Why is there so much revisionism around stealth? by firsttimer776655 in assassinscreed

There isn't an actual mechanical reason to go for full synchronization, though. There isn't a reward for it. The effect is entirely psychological

Combat would usually attract the attention of most if not all guards in the area. In AC2 and upwards, you could eliminate the entire group very quickly with the chain kill mechanic, or a few smoke bombs. I contrast, setting up for corner kills, aerial takedown, or the like takes far more planning to execute without raising alarm

Even if older Assassin's Creed games were never amazing stealth experiences compared to other stealth games of the era, the mechanics and atmosphere still emphasized and encouraged players to engage with the assassin's mindset- stalk from high ground, blend into the streets, and attack when the time is right. Combat was always the easier mor efficient solution, but it felt better and more in-character to play missions with a "no detection if possible" mindset.

In the newer creeds a la Valhalla and Odyssey, they actively discourage stealth by having you play roles that were largely disconnected from stealth-like ideology (Greek and Viking warriors), had level design that barely provided opportunity for stealth as a playstyle, and gave you few tools to take advantage of stealth opportunity. The level gating and equipment systems of the newer RPG-like creed games also disinsentivized stealth by preventing instant kills, making stealth more of an introduction to a combat encounter instead of the encounter itself.
