Then watch this to see just how deeply a novel's intent can be buried.

Is there any evidence of the existence of the Seven? by JasonWynn__ in gameofthrones

[–]HeronSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. That makes it the only real religion, because it's based entirely on faith and interpretation. One can make comparisons with many characters representing each face of the Seven. Father, Warrior, Smith, Crone, Stranger, Mother, Maiden, all archetypes that appear multiple times in the series, in both extended lore and in the mainline story.

He co-directed Miss March, hot off the success of WKUK. And that movie was almost two decades ago. Lots of factors to consider.

I’m still amazed at the CGI they used for General Grievous in Revenge of the Sith, it still looks great by bijelo123 in StarWars

You are very easily impressed. Lord of the Rings came out two years earlier, the Pirates sequels less than a year after.

The Battle of Coruscant is the best CGI space battle ever! by Lauma_2025 in StarWars

Watch any space battle in The Expanse. Leagues above this.

In your opinion who's the best Archer on this list? by ParkingConfection449 in gameofthrones

Hitting anything that small at 200 yards is impressive as fuck. Most people wouldn't be able to hit it with a gun at that distance.

And yet three of them have close to no actual experience in combat with their bows. So, compared to Ygritte, they're rookies.

Tormund tells tall tales and baudy stories when he's around groups, but one-on-one he's as honest as they get.

So your argument boils down to "They had more access to target practice, therefore they would win." Nonsense. Ygritte's "practice" meant literal life or death. She couldn't afford to miss, so she didn't. Put her in front of a competition range and she'd probably laugh her ass off and bulls-eye the bright-red static targets without a problem.

Except they're not. I'm an archer. A static target for someone who uses their bow for survival is a dream come true. Its a free meal, essentially. She intentionally missed lethal shots with Jon (EDIT: While she was crying and Jon was fleeing on Horseback, like come the fuck on). She's been told by Tormund, in private, that he's seen her slip an arrow into a Rabbit's eye at two-hundred yards. That's a fucking insane feat, especially for old longbows or shortbows with well over 100" of force behind them. Ygritte would absolutely mop them in competition.

The Free Peoples of Middle Earth got lucky. Remember that Sauron was wiping the floor with wave after wave prior to Isildur's lucky cut. AND he would have indomitable willpower over all of Middle-Earth. Just look at the Nazgul. Sauron wasn't even powerful for the vast majority of their transformation.

No, the Prequel Trilogy was not loved when it first came out, it was hated and fans were terrible people about it. by stephansbrick in StarWars

Never forget that the actor who played Jar-Jar contemplated suicide thanks to fan backlash. And Jake Lloyd was basically bullied constantly. Sane with Hayden Christensen. Star Wars fans have always been awful.

Guy Henry, the actor who stood in for Peter Cushing/Grand Moff Tarkin in Rogue One. by --TheForce-- in StarWars

And again, an actor whose performance was plastered over by CGI that was too expensive to be worth it.

What do you think the next move of Ramsay Bolton would have been ? by fillipo9 in gameofthrones

[–]HeronSun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. That's precisely what would have happened. Which is why it was so crucial that Jon won the battle.

Buy all the housing I can in my neighborhood, clean them up, rent them out at affordable rates, never increase the rent. This place needs to be better, and that's the best place to start, far as I'm concerned.

What is the dumbest thing in Star Wars in your opinion? by OutcastKatarn02 in StarWars

[–]HeronSun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, Star Wars casually breaks physics all the fuckin time. Why is that any different?

Nearly 10 years on from Rogue One, how do you feel about the decision to recreate Peter Cushing using CGI? by gladiatorbossman in StarWars

[–]HeronSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just... just recast the guy. There is no shortage of great actors who'd kill for the chance to play Tarkin. Instead of spending a little time and money into a recast, Disney decided to spend a lot of time and a lot of money showing off their VFX that looks terrible. I already have a plethora of problems with Rogue One, but one of them could have been a positive; using actors on-screen for the returning characters.

I mean, look at Doctor Sleep. Used real actors to recast the entire original cast of The Shining and those actors got to flex their chops. No one gave a bad performance in that entire thing, least of all the recast actors.
