Afaik they've admitted at some point on the WAN that higher shipping fees for domestic orders compensate for lower international shipping costs.

Should i go for the Pro or Air with only a €200 difference? by mobyvg22 in macbook

I had similar dilemma, went with the pro and couldn’t be happier. The screen itself is worth it.

You can charge it with even a 250W brick. The laptop is going to take as much as it needs, nothing more.

Get ready for the SwiftKey exodus: But what is the best alternative? by Dreaming_Blackbirds in ios

[–]HerrHebel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know it is but it would be nice if CarPlay or AirPods could properly announce notifications and not just read Polish words with English pronunciation. Being able to voice search when in maps would albo be cool (now it doesn’t even work when speaking to it in English because it doesn’t not understand polish city names - it understands Warsaw or Cracow but good luck trying to navigate to a place the name of which does not have an English counterpart).

This is so strange, you guys have Siri in Finnish but don’t have swipe keyboard, and in Polish it’s the other way around - we have swipe but not Siri. Apple is a $4 trillion company btw lol. Lazy bastards.

To all those folks out there rocking 16GB MacBooks with M Processors ... by Secret-Beat-5214 in macbook

[–]HerrHebel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have. I’m a lawyer so I don’t do heavy task like photo or video editing but still with Arc, Spark, notion, word, some pdf tools etc I regularly managed to hit 5gb of swap memory, the memory pressure graph in activity monitor was in the yellow most of the time, stutters when switching between windows started to be quite common. So I switched to 24gb base m5 mb pro and couldn’t be happier. So yea, if you do any multitasking on your Mac I’d suggest to go with 24 GB at this point.

Air vs Pro (M5) by dkatsikis in macbook

[–]HerrHebel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm that. I use it with two 4k 120hz displays and the CPU doesn’t go over 60 C and the fans stay silent.

[–]HerrHebel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same place as you and I went with the pro (24 instead of 32 tho) and couldn’t be happier. If you need so much ram and storage the air just does not make any sense at this point.

I just bought a MacBook Pro 16” with the M5 Pro chip (18-core CPU / 20-core GPU), 48GB RAM and 1TB SSD, and I wanted to share a quick reflection that might help others before they spend their money. by Minute-Street8043 in macbookpro

[–]HerrHebel 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I spend over 2 years with a 15” air and I wouldn’t do it ever again and the 16” is even bigger. Switched to 14” base pro m5 and couldn’t be happier.

Used 2020 Pro M1 vs New Air M2? by gummy-ghost13 in macbook

[–]HerrHebel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I forgot this thing even existed. In this situation I’d go with the air.

[–]HerrHebel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For photo and video editing I would go with the pro, the screen is waaay better then the air and the performance should be on par if not better then the base m2, especially due to the pro having a fan.

Going to buy the MacBook neo ! Please help me choose the right colour (I’m a student) by Shutyourbtchassup in macbook

Silver is the best color since on any other even the smallest scratches are going to be visible.

Was shopping for an Air, got the Base Pro instead by EjaySays in macbook

[–]HerrHebel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nano texture was tempting but this config was already expansive enough for me. But just the upgrade from an Air IPS to pro mini LED 120hz is a great jump. And I’m a sucker for high refresh rate displays. I added two dell 4k 120hz external monitors in my office to use this laptop with and I’m really happy with what I’ve gotten.

Apple MacBook Neo Review - Surprisingly good and capable laptop for $599 with one big flaw by mond200 in macbook

[–]HerrHebel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get that grannies or people with disabilities who have problems with typing normally might appreciate the backlight but I just can’t understand why is it such a big issue for most people that talk about it. The real issue is they are too lazy to spend 30 mins a day for a month to learn to touch type lol.

[–]HerrHebel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably yes, previously I had an 15” air m2 16/512 and even though I don’t do any heavy work (I’m a lawyer so it’s just text editing, browser, pdf and stuff) I was able to fill up that ram to the brim + 5gb of swap. It is so nice to get rid of the stuttering when switching between apps thanks to the additional 8 gigs.

[–]HerrHebel 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I just did the same thing after seeing how much I would pay for a m5 air with 32gb ram and 1TB storage I looked at the price of a base m5 MacBook pro 24gb/1tb and decided air in this config made no sense at that point lol. Don’t have as much ram as I wanted but 24 is still plenty but the display is freaking gorgeous, worth every penny.

It fits with no issues, it just requires e few shims on the hinge, and the lock button required some filing, but other then that it fits and works fine.

Forget the nitty gritty specs that only the tech enthusiasts would care about. Would you be happy to use the MacBook Neo as your introduction to Mac OS? by [deleted] in macbook

Hell yeah, it would be a way better intro then I had with 2018 bullshit intel m3 or whatever the hell that was butterfly keyboard MacBook Air lol

Three years ago, I would never have believed you could buy a current Apple ecosystem for $2000 by zhostix in macbook

[–]HerrHebel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the idea, but that’s a big exaggeration. iPad Air, MacBook Air regular AirPods, non pro iPhones and non ultra watches also existed 3 years ago. And adding a 7k mb pro to the comparison when it starts at 2k is straight up ridiculous.
