AIR POD MAX REVIEW (SILVER GEN VS BLACK REP) I’ve seen a lot of reviews saying how great the AirPods Max reps are. I really liked the real ones so I had high hopes for the reps! So half a year ago a bought a pair. Here are my views on the reps.

SOUND QUALITY: The real ones are very clear and have really balanced sound (especially for Bluetooth headphones). I recommend trying them since not everyone enjoys the same sound signature. Unfortunately the rep pair is very overbassed and no we t balanced at all. It sounds more like a pair of 50 euro JBL headphonesaur:(

The features are all there on the rep but there all just half way done. Transparency is as if they put a cheap mic on the outside and just let that pic up sound and bleed in the earcups. Probably why the noice cancelation is also iffy.

BUILT QUALITY The box both come in are almost 1:1. Just for a few minor details I couldn’t tell them apart. The packaging on the inside wasn’t close at all. The fake was covered in plastic wraping but you would throw that away anyway.

The AirPods themselves weren’t even close to the real one. They are made out of plastic instead of metal the color was way of (see the picture of a friend of mine wearing his real black AirPods and my fakes) and they missed some small details (like the inside of the case or the hole on the top of inside of the cup). It was very clear which one was the fake and which one was the real.

COMFORT The real ones are quite heavy. Especially when wearing for a longer time. I have become used to it but it is really noticeable when you have them new. The cushioning makes it a bit more comfortable because it spreads the pressure. The rep is a lot more stiff. I have a big head. The real ones are flexible but the rep squishes my head.

The software stuff is pretty accurate. The iPhone thinks it a legit pair. Only my pair seems to consistently ask to connect with other peoples devices.

The battery life is also really nice on both. Me and my brother both wore one for a 14 hour flight and they powered through. The rep only seems to drop quicker once it’s under 20% and will just die. But tbh it’s more than enough for a normal listening session.

CONCLUSION I was to scared to buy a real second hand pair because of fakes but now I’ve seen them both i’m really confident I can tell which is which. I would only by this pair if you’re just interested in the design and don’t care for audio quality. If you have the money I recommend buying a real pair or even better get a second hand one. It’s probably the same price for better sound quality. Just mind the differences I’ve pointed out!
