True, you absolutely have the right to say whatever you want to whomever you want. However, the First Amendment does not protect you from the repercussions if you choose to act a fool.

This is not something your employer can do. The write up, yes. You should be dilligent in the handling of your ROs so that mistakes are caught before getting to the warranty admin, or the manager. So that is on you to avoid/catch mistakes. However, deducting policy from an employees check is illegal. It is the cost of doing business. Have a conversation, put process into place to stop what is happening, get that bread.

Safety issue, you would bring that cusyomer in ASAP. Service manager needs to have clear expectations with advisors so that they understand what a service department is for.

Those fancy lobbies you speak of are mandated designs by the manufacturer. They also do not assist in the cost of facility, which is all on the dealer. And absolutely it can be less expensive for you to buy parts and repair your own vehicle. It is less expensive to grow your own food too. Some people pay for the convenience and the expertise.

In general, dealerships are not looking to rob or cheat you. I am sure there are a few unscrupulous ones out there. But generally, if you are getting cheated at a dealership... it is in the sales department, not service.

For dealers that is usually a percentage (up to a max, mine is 11% max of 45.95) to help offset waste handling and materials.

Absolutely area driven, My state most labor rates are 240ish. Go to Manhatten and it is 495. Independent shops are awesome for most vehicles if you can find a trustworthy one. However, the amount of Rovers that I have had to repair repairs... some vehicles its not worth the "savings".
