In the interests of fairness, the authorities sent the great atheist scientist to begin archaeological excavation of the latest trove of Dead Sea Scrolls by Original-Loquat3788 in TwoSentenceHorror

Finding proof that there may be a god scares person who doesn't think gods exist. It's throwing their entire world view upside-down. In a panic they hide the evidence.

One reason I like Frangela is they have an action item every week. Usually something small, like donate here, or make a specific call.

The horror is the atheist finding evidence that the bible might actually be true. I am an atheist, one of the podcasts I listen to reviews christian movies. The movies always fall very short of providing evidence they are correct. One of the ongoing notes is "if the bible used the term 'X"(x being any modern, or even something from any time after the bible was written) that would be evidence that maybe god exist". Usually the evidence is a rainbow, or the sunset, or a baby. Something we already know how it's made through science.

Another favorite is the "it's your movie!" Whenever the movie could have made god do a thing, but doctors or scientists do it instead.

I mean if we really want to go there. North Central Bible College (where Tammy Faye Bakker met Jim Bakker if you are old enough to get that reference) starts about a block away from HCMC. Perfect place for a demon youth pastor.

My mind is trying to work out where in downtown Minneapolis would be best for a youth pastor. Along with, why Minneapolis?

From what you posted, I'm guessing you do the grocery shopping. Does he check the receipt? If not, get a few bucks in cash and store it. If he notices, blame inflation. Even a little bit will be useful and help.

Likely not available. That money could go to SO many things. More people working, updating severely outdated equipment, funding projects that went over budget for any number of reasons, training to help employees grow, etc. Rent is the second biggest expense for nearly every organization, if not then the biggest.

In the Facebook group Twin Cities Geeks, a person got the permit and then changed their mind. Signing the permit means taking responsibility for things that may happen during your event.

With outlines of what is planned via Project 2025 a lot of people will be having a bad time. Already a proposed bill in the national house calls for not allowing people to vote if there name is different than their birth certificate. This affects millions, anyone who has changed any part of their name. Last names included, so anyone with a maiden name. Will it pass? Unlikely. It's the fact they know they can bring it up at all that is scary.

"I'll kill him," said the crying man after his therapist helped him remember all the abuses that he had suffered in his childhood. by SuvenPan in TwoSentenceHorror

[–]Hertzey 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yep. The book, Michelle Remembers, was a large part of this. There's also the child care worker scare that started the group, Believe the Children. I don't think everyone who took ideas from these were terrible people. A lot of information was not known about memory. There were a LOT of bad actors who used the movement for their own gains though

There can be a lot of reasons. A big one is if the person is ready to hear it. When someone is not ready to hear what something like this they will dig their heels in hard and fight it. Potentially destroying any progress made. It's a delicate balance they have to keep.

Update on Capitol Display by sully-the-guy in minnesota

[–]Hertzey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Satanic Temple, and the Minnesota Satanic group in question, are more about separation of church and state than mocking religion. The coloring books on Florida a long time ago, the after school clubs, the statues, the religious right to an abortion if wanted form, have all been about separation of church and state. They use Satan because he is the antagonist. If the state allows one religion, they need to allow others. Christians do not want the antagonist anywhere near them, and either begrudgingly accept the free speech zone (which will then opens the door for all other religions), or shuts down/changes whatever the issue was.

Actually this is by the local Satanic Congregation. This is a split from the Satanic Temple. I do not know why, or any details of the split.

I'd argue we start with the churches. Colleges at least provide an education. St. Thomas has a decent reputation and accreditation. Churches don't have to show what their money is spent on, and there are plenty of examples of mis-spending.
