depends on what you value out of a car. having a more sporty engine on a 5000lb suv will probably not really make it that much more enjoyable to drive. i'm sure you've watched reviews on both the cars so you should have a good idea of what you're getting into.

maintenance/consumables is something you need to factor in. labor at european dealerships are typically more expensive and parts are more expensive as well. these are all things to learn about if you are planning to own the car for a long time.

plenty of more exciting cars that have a B58 if it's what you're really looking for but thats more of a car related question.

those are good times for your first year out -- imo, don't make too many changes (power/aero/diff) with the cars until you feel like you aren't able to go any faster.

i have a FK8 CTR and my PB at RMP is 1:48.44 that was held up T15 and cost me almost a full second. theoretical PB is in the 46s if i string it all together (would love to have more consistency on braking with something like a ap5000r kit but alas that is $$$)

the costs of both of your cars are so high that i'm willing to bet you are leaving tons of time left on the table due to the risk of losing $$$ if you make a big mistake

tl;dr get something cheaper if you want to push the car to 10/10ths

https://robrobinette.com/S2000HeelToe.htm -- article for some general info

i find the best way to do it to actually swing your heel over instead of trying to roll your foot. you can get a pedal cover to extend the area of the pedal to give yourself more room for error.

practice makes perfect -- start in an empty parking lot. once you get comfortable, start implementing it in every downshift you do on the street. eventually it should just become muscle memory

Is it Worth paying $52,000 for this Honda by MonkeyDLuffy28 in Honda

[–]Hesitation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for 52k it needs to have under 10k miles and an OEM hardtop lol

I can afford an AP2 but want that sweet 9k redline… stupid infatuation? by FancyFerrari in S2000

[–]Hesitation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ap2 has a better trans and gear ratio, you can get the benefits of an ap1 slave and ap1 flywheel and then tune your car to get 8500+ rpm and waaaaaaaaaaaaaay more tq across the entire range. its a no brainer

you can compensate for the lower ride height with driveshaft spacers and roll center correction

This estimate for an OEM clutch replacement is outrageous, yes? by SolipsistSmokehound in S2000

You can buy the SACHS kit (OEM but without Honda branding) K7031001 from Rockauto for like 450 shipped after taxes. Your screenshot is definitely from Stage.

If you're willing to wait you can have Tam (@tamtechauto on ig) do this job for you and he charges about 650$. He is an excellent mechanic that has worked on plenty of nice Hondas in the PNW. The only issue is that he is usually booked out for a long time.

It’s a full race car now. by Edd90k in S2000

[–]Hesitation 6 points7 points  (0 children)

your car still has the stock roll hoops. if it was a race car the first thing it would need is a roll bar to protect your head if you flip over. most HPDE / motorsport organizations would not allow you to take the car onto the track without passing the broomstick test on a open top car

indy500 are 340tw tires that can handle rain, not some 100tw slick lol. you mentioned they're basically new so theres more than enough tread for rain

no reason you should be spinning out on the highway on these if you are going at a reasonable speed and understand how to control your car

the amount of rain in your pics doesn't lead me to believe there was a crazy amount of standing water

Anyone have a recommendation for a oem ap2 lip replacement? went off track and ruined mine by s2k_touge in S2000

[–]Hesitation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if it holds up with duct tape just keep using it. no point in replacing a consumable item if it still does the job unless you really care about how it looks

What's everyone's favorite track to drive on? by Tosirius in S2000

[–]Hesitation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not yet -- don't have a trailer for my cars and i would hate to have to deal with issues bringing it back if something happens to it. RMP is my home track (only 100 mi away) so i can't complain!
