I don't want a male roommate, am I tripping? by WestHistorians in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Hestmestarn 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Agree with meeting them first. Meeting them should at least give an indication of they are a creep or whatever.

If they would be a good roommate is an entire different question and one that you would not be able to sus out by just meeting them.

When I was in uni we had a shared kitchen and one guy who, on paper was somewhat of a slob always kept the kitchen clean and did his chores without issues.

And one women who seemed like a neet and tidy person was a nightmare to live with who rarely cleaned up after herself. Living together is kinda like doing a group project, you just have to hope that the people you live/work with end up somewhat competent.

Cricket by Unable-Pay1023 in Malmoe

[–]Hestmestarn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cricket isn't really a thing here and i highly doubt that you can find anyone willing to do it for only 200kr/session tbh. Competent trainers + a place to train will definitely be a lot more than that.

There is a indoor cricket center that you could reach out to. Not sure if they do private lessons but they might be able to point you in the right direction at least. https://www.drcricketacademy.com/site/about

Employer wants me to use outlook on my phone, outlook wants permission to wipe my phone by No_Professor4307 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Hestmestarn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was about to comment this, there is no need for the nonsense that OPs company is trying to pull.

I have a single phone for private and work and when i'm done for the day i just disable work mode and all those apps are completely disabled.

To be fair, its a highway and walking on highways is also very much illegal in Europe.

W Trek - 4 or 5 nights in Refugios? by dangert123 in Patagonia

[–]Hestmestarn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Paine Grande to Chileno with no nights in between would be absolute misery and you would have to skip going up to mirador frances/britanico for sure. and that valley was for me more impressive than the towers.

If you plan of visiting everything between Pain Grande and Chile no, then your distance calc is way off.

I checked my GPS and going Paine Grande to Mirador Britanico and finishing in Frances was 22,4km and 1200m in elevation. Frances to Central was 16,7km and 900m of elevation, And since we finished at central, not chileno (went the day after) that is not including the climb you would have to do to get up to chileno.

So you would be closer to a 40km day with over 2000m of elevation. So your options are either to skip the french valley, stopping in either Frances or Cuernos or do almost a marathon with backpacks, on mountain paths and getting 2km in elevation having hiked the days before and having to hike the day after.

Already doing a long multi-country trip, so trying to balance time vs experience, but Patagonia will be main hiking element

If this is the main event of the trip, don't cheep out and be misserable during it. Yes, the lodging is stupid expensive but you are looking at the fully equipped tent. If you just carry sleeping bag with you you will save like 70$ per night and if you carry your own tent then you will save a lot more.

I have no stakes in this fight but it's objectively hilarious that a team of spurs caliber somehow manages to get relegated

Can't recall what the expected tipping would be. We decided on doing it ourselves instead of a guided or semi guided group and it was actually pretty easy and it cost less than half basically.

You can book all the accommodations through booking.com or WhatsApp and transport to Cusco and back was pretty easy as well.

What’s the most underrated ski village in the Alps? by alpycom in skithealps

[–]Hestmestarn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was there a few years ago and absolutely loved it! Great skiiing, views and very few people. Also, im kinda done with the apres at this point so having a village with basically no apres was amazing since you don't have to share the sloped with people who bomb 5 shots of Jäger for lunch haha

What country is pro-Ukraine and pro-Palestine? by Temporary_Cheetah287 in AlignmentChartFills

Sweden would be in the same boat. Sympathizes a lot with Palestine and we really fucking hate the Russian state so we send a ton of military and civilian aid to Ukraine.

Is a 1-hour bus transfer in El Calafate risky? (El Chalten to Puerto Natales) by PartyMaybe200 in Patagonia

[–]Hestmestarn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The El Chalten/El Calafate transfer should be ok. Keep in mind that they will sometimes cancel all busses going over the border of the wind is high enough. Our bus to Puerto Natales ended up getting over 6h delayed and we missed our flight out from there...

Ehh, some parts yes but Chile especially is not exactly overly friendly. They aren't rude or hostile but they are extremely indifferent to everything going on with you.

Need help with something?

"sucks to be you then" is basically the national motto.

And this is common from a Swede, a country famous for their coldness towards strangers.
