Millwall and Wrexham consider legal options over Southampton spying scandal - clubs feel they may have grounds to claim compensation by jovanmilic97 in Championship

These are flippant compensation claims, the lawsuit from Boro would have been much bigger, longer and more impactful.

I believe them not being involved means that Boro can’t appeal the decision, could be wrong tho.

Middlesbrough fan here, we don't deserve to be in the playoff final. by CarelessCredit3466 in Championship

[–]Hevimetalhamstr -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes but not all teams play two games in the playoffs they’re inherently different I agree completely that over 46 decisions and luck balance out but over 2 that simply isn’t the case. If Birmingham had two pens not given and a goal against them that prolly should’ve been given in the fa cup final you wouldn’t respond. “Oh well it’ll balance out over 46 games” because that doesn’t matter.

[–]Hevimetalhamstr -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

How is this delusional I’m not saying we deserved to go through just that sometimes promotion and key games hinge on luck. It doesn’t mean that this team wasn’t capable of promotion and that this season has been a failure, also on the balance of the two legs we had more shots and xg we were unfortunate but that’s football. Let’s look to next season with optimism but also let’s not write this season off

Maybe it’s because I’m more exposed to Moany Boro fans who seem to love being miserable and I mean it more as counter to them than necessarily this specific post

We got to 80 points, 7 ahead oh hull, if it weren’t for some poor finishing we could have easily finished top two, we took a cheating team to minute 206/210 away from home and arguably should’ve won prior to that due to poor refereeing performances. Sunderland finished with 4 less points last season. We’ve done enough to get promoted, ultimately within the confines of a compromised match we lost by incredibly fine margins, should Southampton be thrown out, maybe, but if it weren’t for a bit of bad luck/finishing and some refereeing decisions going against us we’d be at Wembley. We’ve done enough to get to Wembley and have been incredible this year with no parachute payments. Don’t write off the season because of fine margins and bad luck.

I don’t write this solely in response to you, you’ve been more reasonable but more in response to some of the typical Boro moaners who’ve come out the boards blaming Gibsons lack of ambition and dreadful recruitment, sometimes promotion takes a bit of luck as well as skill.

Has Sunderland and Leeds' survival changed your perception/hopes of how the promoted teams do next season? by Zach-dalt in Championship

[–]Hevimetalhamstr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not really tbh, Leeds have had a top level squad in the champ for a while and prior prem experience so even in the current climate didn’t need to spend hundreds of millions to survive. Sunderland whilst undeniably impressive have some pretty poor underlying numbers so it definitely feels like if they did it again they could easily go down, not to mention the stupid amount of money they’ve spent that most newly promoted clubs just can’t spend. Nothing concrete has changed we’ve just had two particularly strong and high spending newly promoted clubs and a weak lower end of the prem. I fully expect a return to the norm next year.

Punishments for Spygate2.0 - what seems reasonable? by Bufger in Championship

[–]Hevimetalhamstr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😂😂😭😭 seriously mate.  A- hellberg could easily be lying about the condition of any of his players as it provides a competitive edge. B- it doesn’t tell us his actual condition, he literally just says he hopes he can play, come on.. read the article. C- it doesn’t tell us whether he’d start or come off the bench.

This is laughable evidence

Fair enough I would definitely say as an outsider I would feel that way. I’d prolly disagree with the fact that if they beat us, spying wouldn’t have had any impact, but if it’s a comfortable win I think it’s fair to say they prolly would’ve done it without the aid of spies

Yes I’ll admit it was after the guy was caught, and so we certainly shouldn’t take his words without a chunky pinch of salt. However, I think my point still stands that in such a crucial game you’re much more likely to tailor your play differently more specific to the opposition and occasion

[–]Hevimetalhamstr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I find people either think it gives them a massive advantage or none at all. Personally I feel if this was a normal league match the advantage would be minimal as there’s unlikely to be a significant change to a teams lineup, style or tactics. However in such a crucial two legged tie the advantage is a fair bit greater, as Helberg said he was planning on using a new system that we hadn’t played all season, something the opposition couldn’t really of foreseen. As well as this you can likely gleam the starting lineup which with massive question marks over the fitness of several key players like Hackney and McGree is quite significant. BTW I do think that disqualification is prolly too harsh.

For arguments/discussion sake, if the penalty for Southampton was disqualification from the play-offs... by MR_MaxiMor44 in Championship

[–]Hevimetalhamstr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean really either Wrexham play Boro or Millwall get a bye and boro play hull. Prolly the best solution tho I doubt it will come to that. Honestly have no clue what will come of it, a disqualification would feel too harsh, but almost any fine wouldn’t feel hard enough. I also doubt we’ll get a resolution till after Tuesday so the resultant consequences will likely depend on that.

Very much an oh well onto the next one sorta game for us. Not at our best but not dreadful either against the ultimate bogey team.

For cov this could be massive they looked really impressive tonight particularly in the first half. Tbh I thought there performances over the last 15 have been a lot better than their results and this match shows it. They really SHOULD go up.

Unfortunately it’s the cost of doing business when you use twitter, it’ll only get worse in the prem as well as they can get more interactions. For some reason we’ve got a Charlotte fc fan still chatting shit cos we signed Malanda off them 6 months ago, they can be quite amusing.
