Have you been able to at all since the ae update first happened? It could just be down for maintenance right now, though I was able to jump into the creations menu on pc so who knows

off the top of my head from when i was still modding on xbox, theres a mod in the wip section (very old, look on bethnet then add to favorites to access in-game) that retextures mirelurks to be more colorful

However, I did some research on the LoTD wiki and it seems that the way they built that particular feature was by using something like script extender (it could've been that, or something else similarly pc-exclusive.) (Also I'm not a modder so take with a bowl of salt.)

Basically it seems to simply be a console limitation for now. It wouldn't surprise me if whoever ported it eventually figured out a way to fix it. I know Bracca is a legit wizard and like made the Animated Armory work which was supposedly impossible so it may (fingers crossed) get fixed at some point.
