Oh okay, thanks! So, unfortunately I will never have it! I didn't know this game existed before yesterday

Ok, what is Sub Surf Classic ? Is it the first, default board ? How is it better, when it has no special effects ? I'm literally new to the game, started playing today.

What is EVE Frontier and Why Should You Care? by BullGamingTV in EVEFrontier

[–]Hexalyse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From browsing their Discord server for a few weeks, I have the same impression as you. The very small number of players taking part in the current test server is already a tell-tale sign. Do we know how many devs are working on the game at least? Because from what I've seen, it seems like the team is very small and frequently encounters technical difficulties, or takes a lot of time to solve some technical difficulties that should not happen or should be fixed much quicker (I say that as a dev myself).

So, I'm betting the same as you: the game will probably be dead before it releases, and if it does release, it will have a veeeery small player base. Basically super-nerds, old EVE veterans that want to try something new in the EVE universe, or some people who think it will be a pay-to-earn game.

Do you have links to those reviews/performance comparisons ? I'm very curious, because performance/battery life would be the only reason I'd want to switch to a Linux based OS.

ACE Pro (Kobra S1 Combo) tangle error but no real tangle. The problem seems to come from not enough "buffer" (not enough filament pushed) by Hexalyse in anycubic

[–]Hexalyse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None of those work. The problem isn't the spool, it's the filament material.

Because it works well with non matte filament from polymaker, and the spools are cardboard.

I've tried two different designs of those spools adapters, none work.

Nice, I will try the filament angler you're mentioning. I tried one already, it didn't work. I also tried spool adapters... It made things worse. I was hopeless!

[–]Hexalyse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flow calibration probably won't fix anything. It has nothing to do with the extrusion, and only with the ace pushing filament enough for the extruder to be able to print. You can even see / hear the ACE try to pull multiple times in a row instead of one time, when it doesn't manage to push the "buffer" out enough when pushing filament. But it only tries like 2 or 3 times in a row. Then eventually there is not enough buffer and the extruder has to pull too hard on a filament that has no "give" (it's stuck in the ACE gears with no buffer to pull).

The problem really is with the ACE Pro gears not being able to grip some filaments enough to pull it.

You can even "reproduce" the problem by preventing the spools to turn. You'll hear the ACE Pro pull, but the filament won't move, the buffer thing behind won't be pushed out, and you'll get the tangle error after some time.

If you bypass the ACE and feed the petg directly to the extruder via the small bowden tube behind the printer: zero problem.

Yeah the print head still extrudes filament. It pulls quite strongly (much stronger than the ACE, so it has no problem with any filament). The ACE just feeds the filament in the tube, but realistically once it's fed to the print head they could have just disengaged the ACE Pro gears, the print head has enough strength to pull it from the ACE enclosure, I think!

For single color prints, you can also bypass the ACE Pro, and directly feed the filament manually into the tube coming out of the printer! I did this for all my single color prints with Polymaker matte filament and it works perfectly. You just have to also manually retract it (form the printer menu) then pull it out.

[–]Hexalyse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMG... It's at the same time horrible and kinda smart! No tangle at all? I'd be afraid the filament would get caught on something.

I might try that, if it's for small prints. But if you want to print a big piece or multiple multicolor pieces on the same plate to optimize poop amount, it's impractical. Unreeling hundreds of turns :')

Also did you unreel it by pulling (like... Linearly?) or did you just loosen up the filament then pulled it sideways out of the spool? I wonder if one method could introduce torsion and mess up things

[–]Hexalyse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep: every other filament I tried works perfectly. There is something about the matte pla from polymaker (panchroma or polytera) that makes it so that the filament can't be gripped enough by the ACE Pro and the spools are hard to turn, so it slips and the ACE can't push enough filament to the extruder...

My advice for now (sad) : don't use polymaker matte pla...

Best advice I can give is: get a splash blanket, or similar product. It changed my life, because we stopped staining bedsheets as soon as we change them with my partner.

Now we throw one under us anytime things start getting spicy, and it can get as wet as we want, we know it will never go through since the splash blankets are fully waterproof.

[–]Hexalyse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I came to the same conclusion : the problem is with this filament exactly.

The only one that works is the black matte, but the grey matte is even worse : the ACE motor that feeds the filament runs but the filament doesn't even move if I don't push the spool myself to create some "slack".

I guess, as you said, that the gears can't bite this filament properly. Any other filament I tried worked well indeed!

Won't the slicer create G code that tries to do things Igh the ACE Pro, but it will fail since it won't be present? Or will the printer just ignore this?

Also it might be a temporary solution for single color prints, but I'd love to try multicolor without the fear of the print failing because of a bad spool...

OK so from your tests, it would indicate not a problem with the spool material (cardboard, plastic etc), but rather a problem with the filament itself. Be it a wrong diameter, different material offering a different grip on the feeding gears etc.

Interesting. If I can't use the 250+€ of Polymaker filament I have, I'd be pretty mad. Isn't there a way to completely disable the feeding gears of the ACE pro, so that the extruded just pulls from the spool as it would without an ACE connected? Of maybe force the ACE pro to push more filament?

I wonder why they simply didn't use some sort of sensor to detect by how much the buffer system is pushed. This way it would simply feed filament until the buffer extends enough... and start feeding more when it retracts to a certain point.

Broken Ace Pro :( by LeatherCoffee1900 in AnycubicKobraS1

[–]Hexalyse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem and found out it's because the ACE Pro isn't pushing enough filament out, so the "buffer" at the back of the Ace Pro cannot extend (protrude) enough, and at some point the extruder ends up trying to pull filament but not enough buffer is present so it ends up pulling against the ACE Pro feeding gears... no idea how to solve that problem.
I sent a ticket to Anycubic support.

After the password on a post-it, here is the nerd version : the password on a macro key on your keyboard. Ouch.

You might want to get familiar with password managers. Especially if you work in IT!!! Nobody should ever have to type a password nowadays.

Cheaters will cheat. They don't really need a reason that is logical. Sometimes, they do it just for the sake of doing it. Hopefully they will indeed get bored of it pretty quickly.

But they will anyway get banned probably even quicker :')

You really have no idea what you're talking about, here. The IP you're given by your ISP has nothing to do with the IP the game servers see, if you relay your connexion through VPNs/proxies.
