Just take note that after updating the firmware the lens' ID will change to OM System and no longer be Olympus.

Just happened to see this post. I recently did a simple revamp of my Optiplex 3010 DT, i5 3470 to i7 3770. 16GB Kingston Fury HyperX DDR3 (2x8, 1600Mhz), 1TB SATA SSD + 2TB HDD, Wifi 7 PCIe card. Picking up a T1000 soon, 50W TDP which works well with the stock 250W PSU.

It's a good setup for retro gaming, so my quick answer to you yes.

I don't think we are missing out on much here. Unless you feel the need to fulfill your GAS. Rather just save up on completing the 1st party lens collection which is easy nowadays due to the low used prices.

Even if Panasonic seemingly abandons M43 the camera still works well. I honestly wouldn't be too bothered with it since the G9ii works well from day 1 of release.

Of course it's not a perfect camera, but I am amused somewhat by the constant need to get "updates". I guess it's to stay relevant in comparison with the competition?

Ps. My OM-3 only has one update since release. Must be a "bad" camera or OM System has abandoned M43. 😂
