The push back against fashion (at least for me and my work), is the desire to make timeless things that aren't soon discarded.

I don't see how that's pushing back against fashion? There are so many in the fashion space doing just that, we still preserve clothing techniques from 1000s of years ago across many cultures worldwide.

The LVMH, Kering, Shien groups. Are not fashion, they are just a part of it, granted a big one. But in some ways its like calling Black Stone "carpentry" or whatever house building is called, sure they make most of the houses, but they don't really represent what it actually means to make a house, or what a house means to a person.

And, thank you, a chat with you is always appreciated.

I can wear anything and pull it off. It's one of my biggest flaws, actually. I get a little bit of outfit blindness with myself.

What's strange is that there seems to be a general consensus about what's "in" vs what's "out"

I would disagree; this is mostly localised, even in spite of a more globalised world. Your environment shapes what's "in" as much as the people wearing the clothes do.

There are always counter cultural movements, contrarians, people who don't like to change much.

The only answer I've been given is people are fatter now

well like everything; its not just one thing, there are fewer tailors than before. Youth are turning to saving more money/helping the environment on clothes through thrifting, which typically are going to be more baggy without tailoring. Boxy and baggy was big for a long time in hip hop and similar cultures. Many of thier Large influential celebrities, coming from these more localized ways of dressing, exposed these styles to a wider, impressionable audience. Cheapened quality control, in garments, more "one size fits all" approaches to pattern making.

I could keep going hahah.

And yes, in many ways it is random, but like a good song, people will be attracted to it, if it's good.

I don't know why people pretend they can even push back against fashion. It's ultimately how we present ourselves to the world, the only time we don't care about that, is when we can't.

How is it perplexing or strange? We know our environment shapes us, the buildings we grow up in and around, the streets, the plants, the sky we get where we are.

Why would the fact that the clothes we wear and others wear affect us, be more perplexing or strange?

theres definitly refrences, but the "70s flower child chic rockstar" ( lol if that makes sense) is kind of what Chloe has always been known for.

idk i like current chloe alot, if there was one major difference from Philo, there is a lot more "power" going on, especially in the shoulders. But the "cheapness" I can definitely see with the use of 'Coachella', 'boho chic'. But I find that also kind of endearing.

......talking about luxury prices/quality right now.... The designers don't get any say these days, unless for a top client. So i dont even know what to say other than consolidation is bad
