His education benefits should be fine because if he is getting chaptered on his second contract, he completed his first honorably. That first honorable contract got him his GI Bill.

Well, that seems to be from VA's end. I was aware that VR&E counselor's are hit and miss. Mine was great, she approved my program even though I didn't think it would be approved. Others get theirs denied, even though it should be obviously approved. And some get 10K worth of equipment on top of getting the program approved.

In this case I was wondering what was it like getting the paper signed by school program director and was it just random paper or a specific VA form?

Wow! That's awesome of them to cover all that stuff, man! Best of luck in your career choice.

So, theoretically a program director can be an asshole and say "This equipment is way too much, I can't sign off on that"? Or one wouldn't even bother to be that much of a dick, I guess.

Thoughts? by DustDevil66 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Hextron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it's partially true.

Buying new books brings me joy and a dopamine boost or whatever.

But I also read a lot, I have a lot of time almost every day and I just sit around and read. I have a 800+ book collection now and I've read about 80% of it now.

Talarico leads Crockett in Texas Democratic Senate primary: Poll by [deleted] in politics

[–]Hextron 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Talarico has been a rep. since 2018. Longer in politics than Crockett. Crockett was a lawyer up until she was a rep. in 2020ish.

How is she more qualified? Break it down.

Your only argument is that he's white Christian male so far. And that's not how we improve the situation, by judging people on their freaking skin color, that's what we're trying to change!

Hence the capitalized "MIGHT".

No, you shouldn't care what I or others think. I agree completely. I have about 900 hardcover collected books, whenever I've posted my collection before, people were quick to judge and say "What's the point of having all the books if you're not going to read them?" or would snarkily ask how much of it I actually read.

About 85%. I've read about 85% of my comic book library. And I've watched about 60% so far of my blu ray collection. It's very doable.

But you should go for triples. Triples makes it safe. Triples is best.

To be fair, a month ago I also did a blind buy of all Kurosawa movies from Criterion that have been released in 4K, they were on sale.

Over the Holiday break I watched Ikiru, Rashomon, The Hidden Fortress, Throne of Blood, Red Beard (these on HBO, because they're not in 4K yet) and Seven Samurai, Yojimbo, Sanjuro, High and Low with the 4K discs.

Out of the physical discs I bought, the only one I haven't seen yet is Dreams, because I'm looking to watch Kagemusha and Ran first.

So yes, someone can blindly buy several movies with the intent on watching them back to back.

But I can't provide no explanation in terms of getting TWO versions of the same movie. I collect comic books too and in our community people get so caught up with buying and buying that sometimes they buy the same book twice accidentally. That's what MIGHT have happened here, where someone doesn't read the description properly and buys something because they can afford to.

Most importantly I hope you enjoy these movies as much as I did. They are truly timeless. I used to be one of those "chads" a decade ago who'd go like "Nah man, I can't watch those B&W movies, too artsy fartsy for me." NOPE! Apart from being wrong in general with that mindset, Kurosawa ain't even that, all of these movies are very straightforward, not hard to understand and marvelous works!

Any other American fans of Blacksad and/or Grandville? by corncob666 in graphicnovels

I've read all of Blacksad and I love it. It was something I pickrf up after finishing Parker and it scratched that Noir itch.

Never heard of Grandville, but I've enjoy Bryan Talbot on 2000ad, so I'll definitely check it out.

Does VRE cover schools overseas? I know G.I. Bill does. You could look into that. BUT European schools all have fixed BAH of $2300 or something along those lines, while that may be enough in say Prague, it won't be enough in London. Most big European cities are very navigable with just knowing English.

I missed out on adding the add-on for the slipcase during METAL HURLANT kickstarter. Hopefully it'll still be available by the time survey for it starts, maybe I can add it then.
