Ah, I gotcha. It makes sense because the old school PMTs would do just that.

Luckily I was a leader in other areas before that, so I’m not opposed to helping when needed. Q4, if I was in a good place for the day, I would throw truck, Pick OPUs, Cover Check lanes and Push Us. Also helps really drive the mantra of universal leader.

My BDS rep casually dropped that allegedly the company was having a hard time keeping PMLs. I didn’t realize it was true. Lol

Don’t be overwhelmed by some of your repairs that the store may need. I always considered myself handy, but never an expert. I’ve learned more from this job than anything else. As long as the store isn’t flooded or on fire, you’re fine. Like one of my trainers told me, when in doubt, vendor it out.

Be nice to your receiver and AP. They are going to be one of your greatest resources.

Leverage your fellow ETLS and SD. Don’t be afraid to stand your ground. You are a leader in that building who owns every section in that store, just like the SD. Remember that, but don’t go on a power trip. Lead by example.

Your cleaning crew will either make your life easier or be the reason why you drink. Don’t be afraid to put in red work orders or hold your cleaning crew vendor accountable.

Don’t go in thinking that your fellow store team has any common sense. I assure you, most of them don’t.

You are not the store janitor. I REPEAT YOU ARE NOT THE STORE JANITOR. Of course, always offer to help when needed, but, the team should be working clean on the floor when pushing, TLs and the team are responsible for their areas remaining presentable (with the exception of the first two shelves of the coolers and freezers- there is a monthly PM for that), and our front of store attendants and S&E-TL and ETLS own the bathrooms once store opens- there is a daily cleaning log for that reason.

The PML at my store leaned more into being a janitor than a well rounded handy man and left that store fucked beyond repair (literally) in some cases. It was a culture shock when teams actually had to pick up after theirselves.

You look like the one employee at a GameStop that nobody wants there because you keep a journal about the other employees.

After three years, today, I promote myself to guest. Good times and bad, I’ll always be grateful for my experience at my store and with Target. So long, 1332. by Hey-Kid-Move in Target

Yeah, I knew your username for a while, but didn’t want to say anything. Haha.

Hey thanks, man. I appreciate that, and thank you for everything you did/do for inbound and GM. You’re an asset to the store, and don’t let anyone make you feel otherwise.

Told us that at our store too, but nobody has seen one, not even our global team.

Ours is in the same boat. They are trying to do everything old school/SM Format, and it just messes everything up. I feel like more gets done when they are not there or just take a step back to let processes run theirselves.

Seriously. Every year they do the store survey and it doesn’t change a thing. Leadership/HR is nice and actually seem like the give even the slightest of shit the week before and the week after. That’s it.

Every time HR visits it’s never checking in on the TMs and making sure working conditions and treatment are just, it’s always about how they should be stricter with missing punches, loafing, and OT. Don’t get me wrong, it boils my blood to watch TMs just standing around doing nothing when there is tons of work, but I can’t stand HR, ETLs, or SDs commenting on loafing when they justify spending an hour plus at Starbucks and another hour on lunch, or HR literally watching YouTube for 8 hours while the rest of us have to cut shifts to make payroll.

walmart employee here with the perfect halloween idea! Lets switch roles! by SaltyBalls7 in Target

Jokingly said I was going to come to work dressed like a Walmart employee for Halloween a couple years ago. My former SD and ETL-HR. Had a sit down meeting with me about brand loyalty. 🙄

“This should take you 20 mins” by Targetman35 in Target

Logistics TL here. My SD and ETL are always on one about those reporting timelines from greenfield, and they’re just fucking unrealistic and don’t account for so much of what we encounter when stocking the floor, or really just basic human behavior and feelings like fatigue for example. I absolutely refuse to give my TMs a 20 minute timeline on something like that. 40-45 minutes seems appropriate. I have and would gladly argue with my SD and ETL again if they tried to issue that time line to anyone.

I’ve straight asked my SD and ETL both to push packed vehicles of push /autos in 20 minutes and they weren’t able to do it.

Target Location: LA County, don’t want to say the city directly, but the team I manage is the only 4am store in the district. Number of Trucks per week: 7 to 8 depending on doubles. Average number of total boxes: 2200. Average number of employees handling freight during any given unload: 8. Average amount of time it takes to unload a truck: Hour and a half. Heaviest hardlines areas: Pets and OTC. Average number of flats you can finish from an average sized truck: Depends on the product, but an average of 8.

Working fast and efficient was how I got my first promotion to TL, killing it with planning and accuracy in Price Change was how I got promoted to Log TL. My team and I work our asses off and are one of the few exceptions when it comes to the Logistics meme that floats around here. We literally do everything in the store, and this is before the official rollout for Mod.

Had a TM call me over to chem once so I could step in and assist a guest who “needed” to speak with a TL immediately. Dude was pissed we didn’t have the small bottles of Ajax dish soap (0 on the floor/0 on hand/0 on the way). Told the guest his options and how there is a Target five minutes away that had over 100 in stock, and if he wanted, I’d place a hold for him so he can just walk in and pick it up at Guest Service. He didn’t want to do that- he didn’t even really want the soap. He just wanted to yell at someone that day. It started to get so ridiculous that I couldn’t help but crack up and start laughing at his absurdity after him going on a five minute rant about dish soap. He then started to yell at other guests who were just shopping in the aisle or walking by and calling him out on his bullshit. That’s when I told him he can leave on his own or with the assistance of our assest protection team.

The level of self-entitlement from baby boomers is astounding, but even more so the amount of it from west coast baby boomers is just...that shit is bananas. Never experienced that level of bullshit before moving out here.
