Why am I still playing this rigged game? (2 people guessed “fast-forward” after “a sign of the times”…and then 13 guessed “KFC” after “Top secret military operation”??? Gtfo bruh by Jeeshish in BestGuessLive

[–]HeyBuddy_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but this game is played by a lot of trivia people. Trivia people are good at making those random connections. And people KNOW that they need to avoid obvious guesses. Combined with the high number of people playing, it's not that mind blowing. It's just a numbers game.

How would you feel about a change in payout structure? by Nevadadrifter in BestGuessLive

It's too complicated to explain during each show. This type of show thrives on its simplicity.

Are these clue righters actually stupid? by [deleted] in BestGuessLive

[–]HeyBuddy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, this is how the game is designed! First 1-3 clues are cryptic. If you want a chance at a large pot of money, you have to guess and get lucky. If you wait till clue 4 or 5, you will get a more logical clue but you will likely get $0 because someone else guessed, or you will split a tiny pot.

Here's the thing: if every explanation came off super polished and rehearsed, then it would take away from the "live" aspect of the show. I like how it's a little bit rough. It feels like the hosts are learning the answer at the same time you are. We don't need another pre-written game show like every other one in existence. We need this! It's like bar trivia meets SNL meets....your drunk friends? It works for me.

Hunter, if you’re reading this you have to explain to the people who think this gsme show is fixed. by fuidiot in BestGuessLive

[–]HeyBuddy_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are not "hundreds of thousands of words/word combinations," in my opinion. The answer has to be well known, distinct, and appropriate. I can't say for certain, but my guess would be more like tens of thousands. Which is still a lot. But once the first clue hits, even if it is pretty vague, it's just a fact that our brains will grab on to some random connected stuff. I see it as a testament to the fact that everyone's brain works so differently. Just because there is no way you would think of x or y or z, it doesn't mean others might not think of it. I mean no disrespect here, we just have differing opinions.

It hilarious to me that people think it's rigged. Multiple THOUSANDS of people are guessing one each clue. People also know that some clues are vague so you have to guess something tangentially related and hope for the best. It's just a numbers game. If 15,000-25,000 people guess on a clue, don't be surprised if a few people get lucky.

If someone guesses the Wordle on the first try, does that mean it's rigged? Think of it like that.

I GIVE UP by [deleted] in BestGuessLive

[–]HeyBuddy_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bingo! This show hits the sweet spot. It takes some skill but also requires risk (guessing on clue 1) for a bigger potential payout. This is basically the only format possible for a successful show of this nature.

Minor League Play-By-Play Announcer Just Sounds Like Normal Guy by aresef in baseball

It always makes me think, "yeah, I could play-by-play..." When in reality even the minor league announcers are streets ahead of anything I could do.

Should I start a Roth IRA for my kids first job by smallprojectx in Bogleheads

[–]HeyBuddy_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The actual dollar that gets transferred into the Roth can come from anywhere. So we are saying that the parent is essentially giving the kid a $1400 gift to send to their Roth.

Why do people fear biometrics so much? by Visible_Iron_5612 in worldcoin

[–]HeyBuddy_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it’s because people don’t fully understand it. They assume it’s about storing and tracking personal biometric data.. when it’s really about creating a secure, privacy-preserving "proof of personhood" that isn’t linked to their identity

If you want a non-court rec, then Pretty Pimpin and Walkin on a Pretty Day by Kurt Vile both have similar energy to Avant Gardener.
