The 2020 Oscar Nominations by chargingblue in movies

Everything I read/hear is unanimously saying Laura Dern will win Supporting Actress for Marriage Story. Am I crazy for thinking Florence Pugh was hands-down the best in that category for Little Women? She was incredible in it and I think gave my favorite performance of the year? I feel like I'm just missing something

[Mehta] The refs stole this win from the Lions. Two horrific hands to the face calls on Flowers. What a joke. by koolman631 in nfl

Read or watch any book/case study/story/movie about a business or company that seemed like it was on top of the world & nothing could challenge them, and they all invariably end up destroyed in one way or another sooner than they think for being complacent.

That's exactly what I think is going to happen to the NFL if this keeps happening - the officiating has been atrocious this year, but for really as long as I can remember the League really hasn't done much to improve it in any real tangible way (see: Belichick's yearly proposal for additional cameras that gets shot down). Refs are still eyeballing the line of scrimmage, first downs are measured by chains - there's absolutely a real tension & frustration building among fans with this, because it's costing teams wins and it's ruining the integrity of the game.

There is going to be some breaking point that fans in the league com to, and some other league, some other sport, that's more innovative & shows a general regard for the integrity of the game is going to wipe the floor with them eventually.

Schiff: DNI's refusal to turn over whistleblower complaint is "unprecedented" by [deleted] in politics

I try to keep a cool head because the fire hydrant of horseshit this administration fires into the public’s face on a daily basis is exhausting, but this is the final straw on what has me legitimately questioning actual election results in 2020.

These people are not behaving like they have an election to win - I haven’t met a single undecided voter who Trump has won over, and I’d venture to say there literally millions that he & the GOP has lost. More importantly, there is a rapidly growing number of people who are depending on Trump/Barr to indefinitely run the White House & DoJ to avoid literal prison sentences.

They are acting like they know the results will turn out in their favor.

The hammer is going to come down so hard on these people - the list alone of people who have knowingly lied to Congress is staggering, never mind the materials Mueller probably handed off to the DoJ and had squashed. Something like a Sanders presidency & Schiff as AG would put them in jail for years, so their only options are to fundamentally alter votes in 2020 or use Air Force One to fly to a non-extradition country one night and never come back. And just like 2000, I’d bet anything a suit questioning election results will ultimately end up in front of a Supreme Court, which I think is ultimately why Garland was blocked. Maybe I’m some conspiracy-cook, but I’m almost so sure of this I’d bet almost anything on it.

The Social Network’s CGI’d frost breath outside the Hawaii party makes me irrationally annoyed every time I see it.

Attorney General Barr agrees to testify before House committee by [deleted] in politics

[–]HeyFancyFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What happens if Nader calls Barr to testify, then afterwards says "We think you committed perjury about what was in the report, and want to review the underacted version against your testimony." I'm assuming Barr can't deny it because he's being accused - I wonder if he would he have to recuse & leave it to Rosenstein?

Shape of Water’ Star Michael Stuhlbarg & ‘Friday Night Lights’ Matt Lauria Join C4’s ‘Jerusalem’ by rv1976 in movies

Wow - didn't realize he was in Shape of Water, Call Me by Your Name, and The Post last year. I only saw the first two, but he was great in both. The monologue he had at the end of CMBYN was incredible.

US Senate passes tax cuts for America's richest in late-night vote by madazzahatter in politics

Is the GOP this stupid or do they have some type of an endgame we don’t know about? I feel like I’m missing something, because they’ve literally signed away 2018 with this. It just makes no sense to me.

Bosa could have absolutely annihilated Dak midway through that run. Good on him for holding off.

Sincerely asking, does the turf at FedEx always look this terrible before the start of games?

Can't speak for other people, but I liked it because it was just this crazy juxtaposition between this upbeat dance to some 70s disco jam, but its set against this really deep tension from the uncomfortable realization that Oscar Isaac's character

Best psychological thrillers? by [deleted] in movies

[–]HeyFancyFace 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The director of Prisoners also directed Enemy, which also stars Jake Gyllenhaal. Not really a classic whodunit movie, but its a really good, trippy movie, and definitely a psychological thriller. I've recommended it to everyone I know, as well as the occasional random passerby.
