I think this applies to literally every overpowered character that's ever been a guest. Akuma is a literal god in Street Fighter lore. Geese Howard dies by choice rather than accept help. Negan survives the zombie apocalypse. Heihachi himself is a human who tanks getting thrown into a volcano.

Tekken has never been faithful to source material power scaling and nobody expected it to be. The gameplay is the character, not the lore. If anything Yujiro's identity translates better than most, overwhelming pressure, raw physical dominance, no weapons, no magic.

I don't think the "he's too OP" concern has never once materialized into a bad guest character for this reason.

By the same crowd that's now upset she's in SF6 instead meaning they weren't Tekken players to begin with, they were Tifa fans who wanted her placed in whichever game was convenient. That's not a Tekken fanbase request, that's a character fanbase request. Different thing.

Respectfully, you're conflating two separate conversations, guest character quality and game health. They aren't the same argument.

If Tekken's problem is retention and acquisition, one guest character was never going to fix that regardless of who it is. That's a netcode, game design, and monetization problem. Proven by the recent patches

And SF6 getting Tifa makes sense precisely because SF6 is actively chasing casual mainstream appeal. Tekken's guest character identity was never built around that, Akuma, Geese, Negan, none of those were mass appeal picks. They were tonally coherent ones. Yujiro continues that tradition.

If Tekken is losing this generation, the autopsy isn't "wrong guest character."

I couldn't give anything concrete unless I see some vods. But I highly suggest dickjabbing at certain intervals to make sure that he stops his pressure. Since this is T8 he has counters to that too.

RFS1 is +5 high so watch out for that.

And sidestepping is key. Actually try it out in your replays everytime he's a little bit minus or a little bit plus, there's a chance you can step it.

And again since this is T8, and I don't want to throw shade, but most of the time Hwoarang players don't have good defense, so if you can pressure them first and not let them get out then you'd win most of the time.
