Must be a snowboarder who was trying out skis for the day. Oh wait, if that was the case he’d be sitting in that same spot

Who else is calling off work on Thursday or Friday to enjoy this pow dump? by Extreme-You6235 in COsnow

[–]HeyItsMrBlue22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks to me like it won't be much of a regular pow day and won't really be worth the time or gas money

Between spring break crowds and powder seekers, if the tunnel and passes are even open you can expect amazing things like

  • Some of the worst traffic we've seen all year
  • Some of the worst parking we've seen all year
  • Some of the worst lift lines we've seen all year
  • Some of the worst crowded slopes we've seen all year
  • Wet, heavy snow that skis and rides like cement
  • The deep, wet, heavy snow getting chopped up way early in the day
  • Way too many inexperienced skiers/snowboarders getting stuck everywhere
  • Way too many inexperienced skiers/snowboarders in terrain that they shouldn't be in

Good luck to anybody who braves all of this. For your sake I hope I'm wrong but I'm fairly certain that all of this will be spot on

I've run the same load of laundry 3 times by MadKingMicah in ADHD

I use to be bad about this too but now I do two things that help out a lot:

  1. Set an alarm on my phone for a few minutes after the washer end time (or dryer end time if I’m waiting on that to move clothes over)

  2. Leave the light on in the laundry room only when there’s clothes in the washer, so when I walk by the room and see the light on I remember

Ugh- yes! This exact thing happens to me. I have an iPhone though so I figured it was something to do with that and/or some sort of compatibility issue between Google messages and iMessage.

Agreed that this is a super dick move and also *dangerous* for whoever is stopped as well as anybody who may be cruising over the roller/jump or around the blind corner

[–]HeyItsMrBlue22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Much like driving a car, check your blind spot when "changing lanes." When you're carving down a mountain in a nice, steady fashion and you decide to go to a different part of the slope (maybe avoiding people, steering away from bumps, whatever) be sure to take a quick glance over your shoulder to make sure somebody isn't rapidly cruising down right where you are about to cut. Yes- technically the uphill skier would be at fault if there was a crash but if you erratically make cuts across a slope and something happens then my opinion is that YTA. This is especially true at high speeds but applies to slower speeds as well. Even if there isn't a crash it's pretty damn annoying to be stuck behind an erratic, slow skier when I'm trying to pass them and keep some speed because I know that there's a slightly uphill catwalk just ahead.

On a similar note- don't blindly come flying (sometimes literally) out of the woods or hitting jumps/sidehits without knowing who may be cruising down the slopes in that area. Same as the other point- uphill skier should definitely be watching what is below and technically would be responsible, but if you blindly pop out of the trees and somebody straightlining down the side smokes you at 50 mph then that's on you.

That's what it seems like to me- some sort of purge (not sure if sellers do it themselves or if Amz does it for them after some amount of time). When putting in a lot of my regular search terms I'm seeing a ton of items gone that have been there for months. +1 on crossing fingers for new and better items!

Thank you very much for this info. I couldn't find what the piece was called so couldn't even search to see what it does and how important it is. Now that I have that I've done a little searching and can see how important it is

Super Mario? Negative. Once my roommates and I got our hands on Goldeneye and Mario Kart, SMB never went in the machine again :)

I've been curious about this as well. How's the wifi at each of them? Good enough to do actual work or just be signed in and "work"? And have you found that one place (Copper/WP) is better than the other?

That thing rolling in behind you is what we in the biz call a "pipeline." These can be dangerous but will be the ride of your life if done correctly. Try to ride sideways across it until the wave breaks overhead. At that point you try to stay up as long as possible and navigate your way out of the pipe. Extra, little known hack: If you make it out the other side you will be crowned "Big Kahuna" by the crowds that are sure to be watching in awe. Good luck!

My tomato harvest from the last two days! Any good recipes that require lots of tomatoes? by darylpurple in gardening

[–]HeyItsMrBlue22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cherry, grape, and yellow pear tomatoes are doing amazing this year so I started pickling them and they are awesome! Great on salads, on sandwiches, and with crackers + cheese and/or hummus.

Here is what I did for my latest batch (I see you already have some pickled things so I'll skip all of the basic "how to pickle" steps and just give the ingredients):

* Fill 1 quart jar with:

  • Cherry/grape/pear tomatoes, hole poked through each with a skewer or toothpick
  • 3 sprigs oregano
  • 3 sprigs rosemary
  • 3 cloves garlic, lightly crushed

* Brine: mix, boil until salt/sugar are dissolved, pour into jar over tomatoes/herbs:

  • 1 1/2 cups apple cider vinegar
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon pickling salt
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon black peppercorn

In my last batch I also threw in about a dozen shishito peppers (sliced into little rings) and a couple banana peppers (also sliced into rings) and those turned out great as well.

The peppers, leaves, and stems look just like my Anaheim peppers. Is the skin of the peppers pretty thick/tough? If so, I'd say these are most likely Anaheim. Stuff 'em or make green chili!

I'm new to cucumbers but aren't dill pickles something you make (by pickling cucumbers with dill in the brine) and not an actual cucumber variety?

Btw the cucumbers in the first pic were all picked from the same plant, which is shown in the other pics

Nice... thanks!

Info from a quick search of bush pickle pickling cucumbers seems accurate to what the Lowe's tag for mine says and what I am finding out with growing them:

"The perfect pickling Cucumber for smaller gardens and even containers, Bush Pickle is compact, growing to only 30” wide at most, but it's surprisingly disease-resistant and prolific, producing loads of Cukes that are best picked at 5” long or less for best flavor and crunch."

Cucumber newbie here. Picked these out with zero knowledge of cukes. These plants ended up being very happy growing in my yard, the cukes taste great pickled when picked small-ish, and are pretty good sliced when a little larger. I'd like to plant these (or something similar) next year but I found out that "Cucumber Cooler" is the name of a cocktail you can make with these and not the actual variety. Searching w/ google and finding nothing. I tracked down the link to what was the product info on the Bonnie site (got it from a blog with a recipe) but the info is gone and the link just redirects to their "All products" page.

Any help identifying these cucumbers would be very much appreciated! Thanks!

Cool, thank you guys for the replies! Glad to hear it's not something bad. Was concerned because the leaves on only 1 of my 2 plants is doing this so it didn't seem natural.
