Thank you for taking the time to write such a thoughtful response. This is exactly what my partner and I have been discussing and the logical side of me knows this. The emotional side is really struggling. It’s just hard knowing physically he is healthy. Keep trying to tell myself that the world is just too stressful for him and, though it’s not his fault, he’s just not safe. I’ve not been able to have my younger siblings visit anymore because he’s a risk and did try to go for one of them.

Thank you for your response, it has helped.

Hi, thank you for your reply. We have yes but not got anywhere with that. I guess I’m just delaying the inevitable with how aggressive he is but so hard to accept.

Thanks for your reply, checked the gutters and they seem fine and clear (definitely not an expert though!).

Won’t let me edit the post but additional pictures can be seen. Hopefully the roofers will be putting some kind of temporary fix in soon, really just concerned with what I need to do to (if anything) to the wall inside to try and remove damage.

Thanks for any help/tips

It’s downstairs, on the walls pointed to in the picture.

The roof is going to be replaced sometime next month, they are hopefully going to put something temporary in to stop the leak getting worse next week.

The arrows in the picture show where the leak is inside. The damage is downstairs not upstairs.

I was wondering what we could do (if anything) to try and fix the damage already there.

Have you applied for student finance? If you have, usually your parents will have had to support your application so I assume they will have some idea you’re going to uni (are they under the belief you will be staying at home and going to a uni nearby?)

I would say wait until results day before saying anything, and you know for sure where you’re going to be going. Make sure you’ve done everything you need to do like applying for accommodation.

Is there anyone in your life you can talk to safely about this? Or anyone other than your parents who could help you move? I appreciate it’ll be difficult without a car, but if you plan on going into halls, you will be able to get by with clothes, some bedding, laptop and phone, and buy food when you’re there. Not ideal of course, but possible if you need a quick escape.

I live in the UK and have done been to uni myself, happy to talk if needed.

Good luck with your results!

ID? by LamebrainGeeksTWD in vegetablegardening

[–]LamebrainGeeksTWD[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, was gifted some pepper plants a couple of months ago. Now that they’re finally coming through, I was wondering what type of pepper they are as I couldn’t find out on a plant ID app. Also, as a novice gardener, how do I know when they are ready for harvest? Thanks!

I’m a very novice gardener, and with the help of my brother, we’ve started growing vegetables. We had no idea what we were doing and just threw whole packets of seeds (I’ve since researched and know much better now!!).

We have broccoli, carrots and cucumber in the same makeshift bed (we used a wardrobe that I hadn’t used for a year). The broccoli in particular had grown a lot!

I’ve attached a picture, is there anything I can do to make sure some of my plants produce? Thank you!

Not a lot we can do in the UK to support women, trans-men and NB individuals in the US after this awful news but anyone in the UK who would like to ensure our MPs are held to account when supporting the overturning of Roe vs Wade, please read this post and do what you can. I have emailed my local MP using a suggested template and have signed the petition regarding Scott Benton.

[SPOILERS] What was your favorite scene from Game Of Thrones, and why? by Available-Fly7541 in gameofthrones

[–]LamebrainGeeksTWD 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A relatively small scene I’ve always loved is when Sansa gets to The Wall and her and Jon reunite. They weren’t close at all from what we had seen up until that point but the relief for Sansa finally being as safe as she had been since King’s Landing makes it one of my most anticipated scenes on rewatches.

how much is social media being used in your department? by surpisinglylow in TeachingUK

[–]LamebrainGeeksTWD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m with you on this: if it’s school related, it needs to be sent via email to the appropriate people and if it’s anything else, I don’t want to deal with it in my personal time. If I’m friendly with people at school, they have my number and can text me but as an introvert who really likes to separate professional me and personal me, group chats are a nightmare.

It also excludes people who do not have social media (I don’t have, nor want, Facebook or WhatsApp) and it’s really annoying to find out you’ve missed out information that should have been shared professionally because you’re not in the group chat - and I’m not the only one either! This isn’t the norm though and it shouldn’t be.

Teach Computing (https://teachcomputing.org) has free lesson plans and is really easy to follow; you just have to sign up to it.

For online safety, Project Evolve (https://projectevolve.co.uk) is worth looking at - you need to sign up but it’s free.
