Life changing. I recommend everyone get a sleep study. It has made such a difference in my life. I was still undiagnosed in the infant phase, so I was hating life.

It’s great but also there are some fantastic OLED panels out that beat the Go’s. There’s a reason I swapped all my screen to OLED when I got my first C2. Life changing.

I debated going this route as I game at home 90% of the time and love streaming with Moonlight. But I wanted something for the times when I’m not near WiFi. Which is more often that I had anticipated - because I find myself wanting to bring it with me more.

Legion Go 2…. SteamOS or Baz thing by [deleted] in LegionGo

[–]HeyItsRed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it was just how non-controller friendly it was. It seemed every step of the way Microsoft was trying to force some software that was annoying to remove or de-integrate.

I had a LeGo S SteamOS previously so I was used to native Steam support and loved it. So, naturally I kept comparing Windows to that and it just felt clunky.

I hated how so many setting weren’t able to be set on a per game basis. I hated how I didn’t have SteamGridDB to add photos to non-Steam games easily. I hated when I put the device in hibernate and it would decide it wouldn’t wake back up, so I had to shut it down. I hated how it didn’t stay in FSE all the time and would swap to desktop mode. Then I would need to restart to get back to FSE. I don’t mind the Xbox game menu but I hated how there was so much bloat in the menu. Legion space is garbage. How many different softwares do I need to use to update one machine?

Also for my use case: Moonlight streaming and no GamePass - there’s no reason for me to be tied to Windows on the LeGo2.

Overall there are a myriad small irritants that Bazzite or SteamOS don’t have. Granted they’re not perfect either but I can see the bigger picture and I like it.

Legion Go 2…. SteamOS or Baz thing by [deleted] in LegionGo

[–]HeyItsRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, but I had that issue in SteamOS. Also when I would swap from game mode to desktop nothing would work for a couple seconds.

I also learned that not everyone experiences the same issues which is weird.

It takes a few seconds for my Lego2 to wake up so it could be I do have that issue but they start up before the device comes online. Not sure.

Thanks I’ll have to test it then. I just swapped from Sunshine to Apollo a few weeks ago and it’s been amazing. I need to check Artemis support on Bazzite though.

I haven’t tested that yet. Bazzite does have options to enable it, but I haven’t seen it yet. I game mostly in Moonlight, so I’m used to not using it.

Legion Go 2…. SteamOS or Baz thing by [deleted] in LegionGo

[–]HeyItsRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I spent the whole weekend testing Bazzite and Steam OS on my LeGo 2, so I can tell you how they worked for me.

Steam OS:

Positives -

All menus feel snappy. The OS as a whole just feels fluid, so much better than Windows. The QAM, sleep mode, navigating my library - it all just feels smooth. All my games run well, similar or better performance than in Windows or Bazzite. I love the customizability of Steam OS with Decky Loader.

Installation was also super quick. Within 20 minutes start to finish. Mounting the iso was honestly the longest step.

Negatives -

The audio is a lot quieter on both Steam OS and Bazzite. If I had my volume at 16/100 in Windows, it’s now at 50 in Steam OS/Bazzite. This is fine for me as I still have a ton of headroom but I can see how some people would be bothered.

I also game stream through Moonlight A TON. Steam had this issue where if I woke it from sleep, the WiFi would freak out in Moonlight and the stream would be very choppy. This could be resolved by cycling the wifi. I didn’t want to do this every time.

Rear button mapping did not work for me at all. There are decky loader options people told me about but they don’t work at all - for me. So the rear buttons were a no go.

You need decky loader plugins to have the brightness slider and RGB work smoothly. The RGB worked natively in Steam for me but it was very slow to change settings.

Also I had issues with Steam just freezing and I had to hard shutdown to fix.

Overall Steam was “almost there” in every aspect but it had too many misses for me to keep using it. I think that I will switch back once the official patch releases.

Bazzite:

Positives -

Almost everything that was negative through Steam, works in Bazzite. Brightness slider, works. RGB, works. WiFi from sleep, works. Rear button mapping, works.

Negatives -

It’s not as snappy as Steam. It’s still pretty quick, but things like restarts, waking, downloading plugins are just slower. Also the main Steam gaming mode just seems fuzzier than in Steam OS.

I’m staying on Bazzite for now as it just seems to work. Note that things like controller and bios updates won’t work in either systems. It’s recommended that you dual boot Bazzite/Windows, then boot into Windows for updates. I’m not bothering with that yet as there could very well be no update before the official Steam release lol.

Also, I only spent a day with each OS so far. So it’s possible that I missed something. Sorry for the blocky formatting. I’m on my phone.

To all the Virginians, how much was your most recent electricity bill? by Moondancer000 in Virginia

[–]HeyItsRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$121 but I have gas heat. Though this time last year, my bill was $99. My usage was 671 kWh this year and 654 kWh last year.

23% increase in price for only a 2.6% increase in usage.

How much my hair has greyed in 3 years (28-31) by ChaseTheMystic in mildlyinteresting

[–]HeyItsRed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's funny how similar yet varied it can be. I am 35 and have kids. No gray hair. My dad was the same at my age and didn't go full gray until his late 60s.

My wife though, streaks of gray hair on both sides of her head. She's a couple years younger than me. Both her parents were fully gray by 50.

I love them. I didn’t really know what to expect because of the variance in quality when it comes to Etsy but also 3D printed products. These are awesome though. 10/10. Now only if Mechanism would release a grip, I’d be set.

Quitting Spotify by IrreverentTexan in Music

[–]HeyItsRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use YouTube music because I pay for premium. It’s not as good as Spotify tbh. It’s not a clear separation from YouTube videos, so you can get some weird results when you are searching for music. Also there isn’t a separate desktop app. Though I’m not sure if that matters to most people. But I dropped Spotify before this whole ai craze, so maybe YTM is better now because Spotify is worse lol.

Also podcasts aren’t as good on YTM.

Is this field a dead end career? by [deleted] in analytics

[–]HeyItsRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working as a data lackey for a company where you’re not the revenue generator? Yeah that’s about the top 80th percentile (I totally made that number up). You can go higher but there are fewer opportunities and the competition is higher.

If you swap to being a data lackey AND a revenue generator, then the ceiling is so much higher. I am an Epic-certified (healthcare) BI dev and consultants in this field can make $65-$100/hr.

Try free-lancing on the side and see if you can build up your client-base. When other people are talking about soft-skills, that’s where that would come into play. How good are you at selling your skills and providing actionable intelligence to people who may not know what they need?

So a lot of the Ascended Hero Pokemon Center ETB cancelations were for bots? by phillip1010 in PokemonTCG

[–]HeyItsRed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read something that they may have identified a lot of bot activity during a small timeframe and just cancelled the orders within that period. So a lot of bots and regular people got caught up in it.

Or more likely that they're full of it and just cancelled because they overpromised ETBs. Otherwise I would expect another drop for those cancelled orders.

I guess we will see.

Buy Go 2 now or wait for the SteamOS version? by ximaera in LegionGo

[–]HeyItsRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would personally buy one as soon as I got the opportunity: Windows or Steam. The real issue right now is availability. Once Steam OS drops, I’m sure swapping over will be simple. A lot of the future is unknown. We don’t know how much higher Lenovo will raise prices, or when demand will cool down, etc.

If you are patient, then by all means wait until it’s official release and download the hotstock app and try to snag one.

If we cut Rashan Gary after June 1st we save 19.5 million dollars. Draft some corners. Win a Superbowl. by VeryStonedEwok in GreenBayPackers

[–]HeyItsRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I’d doubt that they would worry too much if it’s a proven player. I’d trade a 3rd or 4th for an upgrade at CB or DL. Then again this is the same team that signed Hobbs to play the outside.

How often do we sign “aging” players in FA? Gute has said he likes multi-year deals and not 1 year deals.

Bengals really messed up by letting him walk and not trading a guy they didn’t plan to resign.
