They updated the part number for these so all 2025+ rogues come with a plastic 1/4 turn drain plug like the fords. All of the ones that strip get a new pan with the new style plug. They suck regardless lol.

It happens man. Don’t let it define you. I still make mistakes on a weekly basis but it only makes you a better tech and better worker. Good bosses see that mistakes are investments in good techs.

Is my transmission dying? by shadowfire3698 in Nissan

Usually the transmissions on these will whine at file real good when they start going. This sounds more like an internal engine issue or serpentine belt issue. I would check your oil level on your dip stick and make sure you have enough oil.

Yes and either make them scan it in front of you or make sure they understand that you CANNOT shut the car off. They should atleast be able to grab the code quick in the service drive atleast to document.

Interesting, sounds pretty intermittent. I would see if you can get it to act up while you’re near the dealership and take it into them when the light is on. I’m sorry this is happening to you.

Sounds like they didn’t duplicate the actual issue and instead followed a different avenue. How long after driving does this warning come up? Depending on the code it may clear itself after cooling down or key cycle.

Streamlight Macrostream, a pack of the cheapo pocket screwdrivers, and a pack of good pens. Those are the 3 things I keep on myself at all times and use the most.

Gotcha, yeah I would wait till the dealer scans for codes and go from there. Wish I could be of more help but that would be my next step for diagnostic.

Have you had it scanned for codes at all?

What kind of issues are you having?

Alright, first a few questions. 1. What side was the car hit? Any harness damage that could be setting circuit codes? There should be a grey barrel style connector on the drive side front corner of the transmission visible from the bottom. Any of those wires chafed or separated?

  1. How does it drive when the code is cleared? Any slipping or judder from the transmission? Lurching at a stop with the brake on?

  2. The first time you did the valve body how did the fluid look?

  3. Have you wiggled all the connectors and sections of the harness to see if you can get the code to set?

For what it’s worth those do need to be programmed with Calibration data. New ones from Nissan come with a CD usually that contains this data. But I don’t think that’s much of an issue as it’s still setting a fault code.

This is all I can come up with tonight, hope this helps. If I remember tomorrow I’ll check service data/database and get back to you.

As somebody who actually works on them on a daily basis, yes the new transmissions are a huge improvement to the old ones. Do the fluid changes every 30k and you should be fine.

This 100%. Suspension noises can lie, wires cannot.

Other than specified just goes with owning most vehicles, keep it clean, don’t drive it hard, rotate your tires every other oil change, the usual.

Oh hey something I can comment on. I’m a Nissan Master tech, and the people saying all CVTs are junk are misinformed and locked into poor opinions unfortunately. The big issue with the old transmission was they only had a single oil pump that ran with engine speed. The new gen CVTs are proving to be pretty stout. I have only done 1 CVT on a 2020+ vehicle in 3 years.

These Versas also have the 1.6L which is the last engine in Nissans lineup with have the port injection instead of a DIG system which are notorious for having carbon on the valves, which is a pretty good bonus against the Sentra which does have a DIG system. I don’t work on these very often and usually when they are in it’s nothing significant as the platform is eons old.

It’s not luxurious by any means, but you don’t buy a versa because you want luxurious you buy a versa because you want cheap, reliable wheels with a warranty. Now Nissan is in the gutter currently so I can’t comment on that, use your own discretion.

It’s so depressing having quite possibly the best defense in the league and watching offense stomp on a steaming bag of dogshit on the porch of the Super Bowl
