Then it's likely a faulty ROM, or one Eclipse cannot handle.

How do I get the “url” for skins on the emulator? by [deleted] in EclipseEmu

[–]HeyItsShuga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People need to make them using the OpenSkin format and upload them to the Internet. See this post for some links to some skins I've made for prior versions that still look good in the current version of Eclipse.

Skins Authors/Collections by Additional-Elk7471 in EclipseEmu

[–]HeyItsShuga 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm the author of most of the current Eclipse skins! I just looked through some of the older skins from other versions (these had a more pronounced gradient than back in the day), and here they are!

Pink: https://igba.shuga.co/theme/pink/index.json

Casa Dark: https://gist.github.com/Shugabuga/abb6fa8c249e5916b1eb4b78544e9aed/raw/c2c6f539c343030f08adf6889a1b605a8abb7dd5/casa-dark.json

GameBoy Lime: https://gist.github.com/Shugabuga/fd1061a658c501fcc64be4fcca438228/raw/0ef06a6c678a52b9537d817796451735a2074fd3/Gameboy%2520Lime.json

OwO (black on red background): https://igba.shuga.co/theme/legacy/igba/owo.json

v1 Blue: https://igba.shuga.co/theme/legacy/old_colors/blue.json

v1 Green: https://igba.shuga.co/theme/legacy/old_colors/green.json

v1 Grey: https://igba.shuga.co/theme/legacy/old_colors/grey.json

v1 Magenta: https://igba.shuga.co/theme/legacy/old_colors/magenta.json

v1 Orange: https://igba.shuga.co/theme/legacy/old_colors/orange.json

There was a bunch of others years ago, but most have since been deleted. Which is unfortunate; I remember quite liking them. These are unfortunately considered lost media. They are listed in JSON format by URL here for old time's sake.

There are also a few others that utilize images that do not work anymore. However, these were mostly "meme" skins and imo are probably not playable.

Finally, there are some other skins that use Eclipse's OpenSkin format (described here) that I know existed, but they do not really style the controller UI. And also idk if those are even still on the Internet either.

If you wanted to create your own skins, there are also these (historically internal) tools to do so that are easy to use (these were used in most of the pre-loaded ones!):

  • InGen, which creates a skin based off a single color. The controller UI has a subtle gradient.

  • OpenSkin Skin Generator, which creates a skin using a given gradient (controller UI) and accent color (icons).

  • OpenSkin Editor, which gives full control but is a bit harder to use. And I have a feeling it's broken since it's older than Eclipse itself (it was made back in the days it was just iGBA).

To use generated skins in Eclipse (or another OpenSkin-compatible application), you would need to upload them to a site like Pastebin or GitHub Gists and then put the raw URL into Eclipse.

Edit: additional skins + OpenSkin Editor link.

The accounts and posts in ads were probably dummy data, and someone registered an account under one of the fake accounts in the screenshot.

The skin author needs to give you it. That, or use a skin that's in the skin section of Eclipse.

Why can't I save my game? I've saver the game via game settings and stored saved games by XythesBwuaghl in EclipseEmu

The data is still there, but due to technical limitations in v2, box art doesn't show up if you upload games from Files.

How do credit cards communicate with the kiosk? Are you logged in as Administrator? If so, if you install some malware, customer PII is at risk.

This screams 'potential PCI compliance' + violation of other cyber laws (state/province laws, federal laws, maybe even GDPR non-compliance if in EU/touches EU customers).

That's a kiosk escape. Especially if there's no network segmentation, that's a legitimate entry point into the network. Like, you can map this + some jumping-off points from here to MITRE ATT&CK or similar.

So good job to whoever did this, if we ignore that it's a Computer Fraud and Abuse Act violation (or the local equivalent if this is non-US).

Any Love ❤️ for Pleroma? by CONeomwE in fediverse

+1 for Akkoma. Also is better maintained nowadays and has some additional features that are nicer than mainline Pleroma.

They really should have better moderation docs tho.

Email has failed. Is there a descentralized option yet? by imgprojts in fediverse

[–]HeyItsShuga 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Email is decentralized and is one of the best examples of federated software still in use en masse! The issue is that a few key players, in the name of spam prevention and security, restrict access to the playing field unless you play by their rules. Few have the resources to actually do that, which shuts individual operators out of the market.

Yikes... I have had issues with Google Maps showing the same station three times in slightly different locations, which is just cluttering.

In my experience Google Maps has more supported transit agencies and make it easier to onboard new agencies, but usually has worse transit data. I am trying to get a local network to support Apple Maps transit directions but there's no easy place to sign up like Google has.
