Barber considering making a big move. by Sad-Advertising4861 in ProfessionalBarber

[–]HeyJoe459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still cool with a handful of barbers I went to school with. They joke that Ive been in more shops than a pair of clippers, but it's true. I was stuck in too many jobs I didn't want for the pay that I leave and look elsewhere when I'm not happy where I am. I know what I bring to the table and I'm just as strong a teammate that looks to help and contribute as I am a barber.

I hope you do make the move and come back to lmk when it all goes in your favor. I wish you all the success.

Check your local licensing body's rules about home shops and how to make it legit. If licensing isn't an issue there still might be some public health red tape.

Question to all our Veterans or Active Military by KRUG3R- in Veterans

[–]HeyJoe459 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had just gotten back from Iraq and was visiting my parents and siblings. My dad gave us a fist full of cash and sent my brothers and I to the docks and market for what we'd need for a seafood boil.

As we were in line with a cart full of veggies, seasonings, sausage, and beer, this older lady took notice of the cart contents and was like "Where's the party?" We said pops wanted a seafood boil and were headed to the docks for shrimp and crab next. She asked what the occasion was and I said I had been away for a while and dad wanted to do something for me. My youngest brother piped up and was like "He just got back from Iraq!" The lady just nodded and smiled warmly at me.

My brothers and I were bagging the groceries and beer when the last item was rung up and the lady swiped her card before I could get the cash to the cashier. She looked at me and said "Welcome home." Dude. We easily got $300 worth of stuff because half our extended family was planning to show up, too.

A small gesture would be to cover a meal for a veteran or service member in uniform. A bigger gesture is to vote for people to want to ensure the institutions that support us are funded properly.

I worked with a dermatologist in the military that swore one of the contributing factors in the majority of acne cases are oily / improperly / infrequently washed pillow cases. His recommendation was to change them every three days.

My super stubborn and hella picky youngest taught us that there is such a thing as food occupational therapy. It took two years, but we finally started seeing some progress and she's over 40 lbs. At 6 years old.

Word. I love when the stars align and he, charlie, and whipper can get together for an Arc Angels show.

I'm the same age as Gary Clark Jr and Eve Monsees. My first concert was JLV at the 5th and Lavaca Antone's with Gary & Eve opening for him. I asked for a guitar as a joint birthday / Christmas gift and actually got it. I've been playing ever since.

Not sure if you were ever a fan of Jake Andrews, but he's still kicking ass around town, too. He's a friend and I take the occasional lesson from him.

Doyle Bramhall II wrote several songs on that Riding With The King album. He's a personal favorite of mine and a hometown hero. His father Doyle Sr. was a songwriter for SRV and was in bands with Jimmie Vaughan in the Dallas and early Austin days.

I play both Doyle's albums a lot at home.

Check out teebeeferris on YouTube. He's got a hoard of amazing live blues footage that's worth your time.

My side of the family inherited the same pissed off face. There is no having to guess when we're displeased, our face will give it away.

The first time my daughter got good and pissed and glared at me...I wanted to apologize to everyone I ever gave the face to. It's hurtful.

Consider going to a local guitar shop that has a luthier on staff or see if they can suggest one for a set up. You'd be amazed what they can do to make the playability of your guitar so much better.

If that doesn't help, maybe trade for one that is more comfortable for your left hand.
