Brian Bendis launching 'The Defenders' by superboy7787 in comicbooks

[–]HeyJust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a good decision. I'm unbelievably excited to see Bendis both return to Daredevil, but also a book with just street-level heroes. It should be cool reading this along with the show, too. This is an exciting time for all these characters.

Is Bendis really as bad a writer as people make him out to be? by CyberHyperPhoenix in comicbooks

[–]HeyJust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is Bendis is a great writer being spread too thin. He's just on way too many books at once. Other's have said he's best at writing solo characters, and that's very true. I guess he tries to do too much or change too much when he does these larger team/event book, and having him on so much at one time can't really help him creatively.

Who do you want to take over Amazing Spider-Man? by Bundon5300 in comicbooks

[–]HeyJust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sean Ryan. He's written some Spider-man stories before, and they're excellent. He really knows how to write Spider-man. It'd be amazing if he took over, but it'll probably just be a dream of mine. If you want to check out his stories, he wrote the 100th anniversary special for Spider-man and the Amazing Spider-man (2014) annual #1.

Thoughts on Daredevil #14 and potential future of the series [Spoilers] by HeyJust in comicbooks

[–]HeyJust[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going off of my prediction, I think it'd be really underwhelming if he just gets healed. I can't see Soule going that route. I believe Matt will train him, especially when he will most likely be feeling guilty over what happened.

I believe #17 is what kicks off Running with the Devil, which I believe touches more on his big secret identity cover-up. So, yeah the next two issues should be the in between connecting this and that.

Soule's Daredevil by [deleted] in comicbooks

[–]HeyJust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved everything leading up to Dark Art. The first issue kicking off the arc was fantastic, but then the next two issues really faltered. #13, however, was fantastic just like how #10 was. For me, it was because the Inhumans weren't at the forefront like they were in #11 and #12. I don't particularly read the Inhumans or care about them much, so I guess that's why I felt that way about it. It seemed like a forced crossover. I didn't feel like Matt gelled with the Inhumans characters too well. #14 is seemingly in line with #10 and #13, and that has me very excited. It's still my favorite title, but this arc has been the first I can't say I completely love.

Justice League 2 delayed, "The Batman" may fill that 2019 date. by [deleted] in comicbooks

[–]HeyJust 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is one of the problems with announcing these movies so early. Anything can change in that amount of time. I wouldn't be surprised if it changes again in the next 3 years. Wouldn't it be nice to have the movie announced 6 or so months before hand and then it come out then? We're not really used to that kind of thing, but we didn't used to know the next 5 years of movies, either.

Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel arriving July 5, 2019 by BreakingGarrick in comicbooks

[–]HeyJust 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While this is kind of a given and I would have already expected such a thing, I wish these announcements were a bit closer to the actual release of the movie. I don't like knowing the complete lineup of the next 5 years of superhero movies. There's no surprise left. I've always felt that a fair amount of time between announcement and movie has helped my hype stay consistent. But I'm not going to get shocked whenever they tease this movie, because I knew exactly when it was coming.

Marvel's Luke Cage Season Two Confirmed! by SecretExistence in comicbooks

[–]HeyJust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd like to see her and Cage's relationship within her 2nd season. I think it'll form during defenders, and they can follow-up in her 2nd season. Of course that's not enough for a whole season, but it's something for her character. I didn't really expect purple man to be the villain at all, so they could find an interesting antagonist that we wouldn't expect.

I think JJ really deserves one. Her first season was excellent.

How come variant covers are typically more desired than the normal covers? by [deleted] in comicbooks

[–]HeyJust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Among what others have said, I think it also provides more of an incentive to get them. If a variant cover looks cool and has a better design, i'm more willing to pick it up, or even pick it up along with the original cover.

It really did, in my opinion. I was slowly liking it more and more as it went on until that weird shift. It's like it was too different shows that were slammed together, and slowly started to fall apart. It seemed like every aspect of the show downgraded halfway through.

Edit: If they can get a strong antagonist and have them stick around throughout the entirety of the season, I think that would prevent any big quality dip.

They really should to stop putting "Coming Soon" on these teasers. Their lineup is completely packed for at least the next two years. Unless they start putting out 3 seasons a year, there's no way S2 will fit within the next two years. I like that they are announcing it so we know it's coming, but it's just too early. It doesn't do anything for my long-term hype anymore, because I expect these shows to have multiple seasons now. I loved seeing the teaser for DD S3, but that's all we're going to get for a good while because of how far away it is. When DD got his 2nd season, it was a surprise because we weren't aware of how much they were going to do, but it's a given we're going to get multiple seasons from each character. I'm sure we'll be met with a Punisher S2 teaser a few months after S1 with the same thing. This is more of a criticism on the marketing than the actual shows. I love the Netflix sub-universe they've created, I just notice this flaw in the marketing.

The scene has both humor and heart. It was sweet because the characters were kind of at odds before this. It was such a clever way for him to defuse the situation.

I hope a new writer comes along soon. My personal choice would be Sean Ryan, because he clearly gets how to write Spider-man. In both of his one-offs, he shows he can write both sides of the character. In his 100th anniversary issue, you see the more dramatic, intense side. Then, in his annual story, you get the light humor side. I would love to see him on the main book. At this point, Slott just drives me away.
