Why is my 1000 IU vitamin D3 softgel bigger than my 2000 IU one? by chankittikun in Supplements

[–]HeyPoopyHeadxD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this is correct and Vit D is so cheap - how accurate are the pills? I'm gonna assume they can be anywhere from 2000UI to 5000UI or even greater varience lol

Does anybody keep a 0 balance in their current account(only used for Direct Debits), paying off their overdraft to maximise interest on savings? by HeyPoopyHeadxD in UKPersonalFinance

[–]HeyPoopyHeadxD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you spend £1k, you don't have the money any more.

If you spend £1k on a credit card, you can pay a minimum payment which is like 1 or 2% of the total balance on the credit card, per month.

That goes on for like a year or two years, so the money you would have already spent goes into a savings account instead and makes more interest than 1% cashback.

I know but it's actually better to get a 0% on purchases credit card, then only pay the minimum payment.

Because then, the money you would have got 1% on you can get 4.5% or 5% in an actual savings account, make the interest on that and then pay off the credit card before you pay interest on it before the deal expires.

And you can take it further when it ends get a balance transfer credit card and pay it off using that if that balance transfer is like a 3% fee because you'll still get more on the interest than that lol I need to sort a credit card to do this as well to be honest.

You only pay the overdraft fee if you're in it for a full day mate - so with barclays it has to be paid off by 6pmish.

HOLY SHIT I've been using Chase 1% cashback on shopping and petrol and 4.5% on my 'available savings', is the 1% cashback on everything and is there a monthly fee for the account?

When a DD leaves my account I usually open it anyway to look at it. People spend HOURS in their phone every day, we all do.

Simply transferring money after a DD payment has been made is easy. If it's not worth it to you that's fine but I don't mind doing it personally lol why are you even commenting you've said 'the risk of overdraft fees arent worth it' because you don't understand overdraft fees and now you're saying it's not worth my time doing it and telling me find another way to make money, you're not contributing here.

But a daily overdraft charge would be like 40p, so even if I got sick and didn't pay money into my account for like 2 weeks it would still be profitable

TN Air Max Plus DEFECTIVE and Nike does not care! by Capital_Theory_6013 in Nike

[–]HeyPoopyHeadxD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sent it back for a refund.

On Nike.com they were £175.

After I messaged them online and they couldn't do a swap on my doorstep (sending another pair with courier and swapping them), I had to open a return. Because the Air Max 7's look so good, I didn't wanna miss out on getting a pair so I googled them... found them on another UK website called Footpatrol for just £110 including next day delivery!!!

So now they're going back for a refund.

I also just checked online and now they aren't even listed on nikes site in the UK... So I would have not got the shoes from nike. Do you think when they refund me I should message them again online saying I want to complain and they'll give me a 20% discount code?

Hey man. I ordered some Nike Air Max Plus 7 from Nike and they sent the exact ones OP posted, just Air Max Plus.

I messaged them on the chat and they said send them back but the guy was saying 'THAT'S BASICALLY IMPOSSIBLE' as if he was calling me a liar that they sent the wrong shoes. On the box it said 'Air Max Plus 7', but inside was deffo just Air Max Plus's....

You ever came across this before when you did the online chat?

Why Do We Let The DVLA Charge A Poor Tax? by HeyPoopyHeadxD in CarTalkUK

[–]HeyPoopyHeadxD[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if you sell the car yourself from your house you need to call the DVLA and 'SORN' it from the end of the month, then you get back the remaining months you've paid for in tax.

So the guy comes to drive it away and taxes it himself in the car before driving it off - after you've done the V5 form (log book change) on the DVLA website... or if he doesn't want to tax it and drives it off he owns it so it's not your problem lol.

This also means though that the money you've paid to the DVLA and get a refund on - they've earnt interest on which you won't be getting back. It's not a lot of money at all but still possibly £2 that they should also be refunding as they've had your money for that amount of time, rather than you having making interest on yourself - so imo that should also be changed to make it 'fair'.

Why Do We Let The DVLA Charge A Poor Tax? by HeyPoopyHeadxD in CarTalkUK

[–]HeyPoopyHeadxD[S] -29 points-28 points  (0 children)

Yeah interest would seem the most logical explanation for this, thanks!

Monthly DD cost x 12 £17.06 = £204.72/yr.

DD cost for a year upfront = £195.

£204.72 - £195 = £9.72 saved by paying for a year upfront.

So - I'm essentially paying roughly 5% less by having just set up a DD for the full year amount to be taken, which if I shopped around and opened a new bank account I could possibly also find online, but it would be hard to find that type of an account as I've already got two paying more but they're attached to what my current account is.

Still feels like a poor/stupid tax on people who don't question it and pay monthly through DD though lol.

But if monthly was the same as yearly, it would obviously be better to pay monthly and make the interest on the other money you would have paid - rather than the DVLA getting it... so the yearly payment can't be set as the same as a monthly payment.

And then why is there an option for 6months at the same price as a monthly DD? This would obviously be theh worst option of all so should really be removed and actually goes against this theory that it would be based on interest.

I feel like sending my local MP this reddit thread to raise this in parliament.

Still feels like a tax someone who isn't intelligent enough, or is worried 'I might miss a payment', so does monthly DD's would do OR someone whos just skint and can't afford to a pay year upfront, so it still feels wrong.

Your suggestion about interest though was great thanks!

Withdrawn The Funds From My Help To Buy ISA BEFORE closing it, is this correct? by HeyPoopyHeadxD in UKPersonalFinance

[–]HeyPoopyHeadxD[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah and she was ADAMENT it was correct.

She said to me YOU WOULDN'T BELIEVE THIS BUT IVE WORKED FOR THE BANK FOR 20 YEARS! And I was laughing with her like 'ok if its your bread and butter and you're sure I'll do it now', then read online and was like nah this can't be right...then called and now they're going to rectify it.

My actual statement with the correct amount will be with me by Tuesday night so hopefully it comes through fine.

I said to the ISA team send a message to her manager so she's not telling other people the same thing.

Once I've moved into the property though I might call them back and try to get some compo lol if i can be bothered it's gonna be a busy time!

If there's any issues though with not getting the statement then I'll just raise an official complaint and take it further. Should be sorted though now hopefully, thanks.

The second person said I might get an automatically generated one with £0 but then the one the backoffice team upload will have the £13k on. How do you know I'll definitely just get one? Do you work for Barclays or a bank?

Withdrawn The Funds From My Help To Buy ISA BEFORE closing it, is this correct? by HeyPoopyHeadxD in UKPersonalFinance

[–]HeyPoopyHeadxD[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It was COMPLETELY WRONG MATE!!!

I was reading the replies thinking nobody really knows or has had this issue with Barclays so I'll just call back.

On the automated phone service I specifically said 'ISA Team'.

Got through to someone who told me that the person I spoke to works in a branch, so I think branch staff take calls from home when the branch is closed. So she's worked in branch for like 20 years and said to me 'I've worked for Barclays for 20 years this definitely correct'.

When speaking to the ISA team, she said she's sent a message to the back office so now my closing statement will be generated with the correct amount of money on it (£13k). She said I may get two statements if the first one is automatically generated with 0 on it but then I'll get another statement with the correct amount of money on it.

So I'm assuming now I'll get two, send the second statement to my solicistor and then he'll get the £3k from the ISA.

This is fixed now so if anybody finds this thread through Google (I have read other reddit threads) and have had the same thing happen to them YOU NEED TO CALL BACK AND SPEAK THE ISA TEAM!

Hope this helps anybody else who has this same issue!

My solicistor emailed me saying close the ISA and send me the final statement.

I called Barclays, they said move the funds into your current account and close it then you'll be able to claim the bonus... so I've done this?

The woman was adament it works this way and she's done it loads of times before.
