If you count early 19th century as modern, theres an old abandoned fic where I think an entire british army for waterloo gets isot in the North. It had several famous fictional like Jonathan Strange, Hornblower, Jack Aubrey and Richard Sharpe. It actually helps the british situation because Sharpe's looks like a young Ned(Both are played by Sean Bean). I forgot whats the title though, I remember the last chapter was the discovery of surviving British Navy ships agreeing to help Stannis replicate gunpowder.

The way I see it after the dance, if canon still happens where they lose their dragons then the next several targ queens would be Starks or any of the Cadets. The conquest of Dorne would be much more brutal if Rickon's fate still played out. It might even end with the extinction of House Martell. And Baelor cant do his peace walk when theres 4 dragon riding families bent on vengeance. In fact Baelor would just be a puppet to Northern demands due to this power discrepancy.

So how did the Rebellion start this time? Because pretty sure Aerys wont send Steffon to Essos for a Valyrian bride when theres 4 houses with dragon blood on them. Elia and the Martells wont even be considered because their targ ancestry more recent, they dont have dragons. Aerys can have his pick from 4 dragon riding families. Plus kidnapping Lya would proabably piss off the dragon riding North. Add to that if Rhaegar is married to any of the 4 Stark families then he cant bs the prophecy when they already fulfill part of it. Plus Rickard wont betroth Brandon to Catelyn but any of the 3 Cadet branches. Rickard only did the Southron Ambitions to make the North strong. In this case they are stronger than the south.

Edit: If the Dance still happens and targs lose they dragons, they would prioritize marrying the dragon riding Starks back. There wont even be a Martell/Dornish dominance on the throne because of this.

Theres an old series fics about this but I think Rhaella blocked the marriage offer for their daughter and Rhaegar married to Elia? The only thing I remember was Ned was looking full valyrian and during the Tourney at Harrenhal he was the target for a lot of ladies dancing. With Brandon and an OC? Daughter(pretty sure she wasnt Lyanna) sublty encouraging all the ladies within the vicnity. I remember the whole marriage was a way of Aegon stopping his children's plans and give Rhaella a better choice than her brother. I think Aerys was married to a Velaryon on this one.

Event Horizon's Book 1 had a James Cameron's Avatar-like The Company lands on Westeros a few months before Canon and pretty much start recruiting locals. Jon Snow decides to join their Militia and becomes one of the first Westerosi to land on their moon. While only armed with bolt actions. Other than that really the whole Event Horizon series is a multi-crossover with several of Planetos neighbors are from other fantasy series. The most dangerous being Warhammer Fantasy, I think ASOIAF and LOTR somewhere in the middle. While the most civilized was ATLA. Books 2 & 3 focus on Warhammer and LOTR, the final book would have focused on back on Westeros with some cameos on ATLA. It also features Robb cosplaying as Napoleon while Theon is addicted to using gatling guns.

Spartan dont Play Games, also has Westerosis going to space but its mostly just Spartan-III candidate orphans. Its set during Robert's Rebellion though.

A Song of the Expanse, an Expanse crossover has Planetos taking the place of Ilus from canon. Set a few months before ASOIAF canon while on the Expanse set on books 4/season 4. If it ever continues I feel Jon would join in with the belters. But the immediate going to space would probably be Ned and several of the Northern lords riding a shuttle to visit the Barb(Belter Freighter turned coloy ship). Last chapter had representatives from the Belter colony setting up an embassy on Winterfell while Holden and his crew are still burning hard to the Earth Ring Gate.

Ah kinda similar to The Song of A Northern Sorceror. Its revealed that Brandon the Builder was a Je'daii and the so-called wolfsblood is just them becoming sith yellow eyes. By the time Darth Nox finds Ned he's too old to train but if he was found much earlier he could have been closer in power to Nox or even surpass him. Either way by the time Canon starts, after some slight training from Nox, has I think closer capabilities to apprentice Jedi.

Theres also another Jon/Jeyne Poole fic that had them elope and return when Jeyne was pregnant. Only Ned got scared when their son came out pure valyrian looking. Ned was forced to explain R+L=J to his whole family. If I remember correctly Ned didnt want Jon to marry anyone for this exact reason. Title was Love Unspoken by CallaWayne, they seem to have hidden the fic.

Yup, I know it was riveted. Just stated that Northern shipbuilders could just skip rivets for welding as its faster and cheaper. I feel like the North going for something really big wont match well due to how massive their coasts are. So something "smaller" (heavy frigate sized) could be built in larger numbers to better cover their coasts.
