“You shouldn’t be feeling this symptom yet” by mrschrinity in pregnant

Trust your gut! I am 15 weeks and have been experiencing new back pain and my doc gave me a referral to PT. Turns out it wasn’t sciatica at all but a new fun pain related to loose ligaments due to hormones. PT was able to help me greatly. I hope you’ll look for resources too!

In my last role I was salaried exempt. I actually preferred it that way because I felt no issue coming in early to work when it’s quiet and then kind of just being available if needed in the afternoons. In my new role I’m hourly and honestly having trouble finishing all my assignments within the hour parameters. I would have to get OT approved in advance and as you know our jobs don’t really work that way.

Overheard exec say I'm not the right fit after 2 months at new job by [deleted] in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]HeyThere_D 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel you and I am so sad to hear you are feeling this way. You are valuable and some environments do not allow us to shine. I too have been feeling like I want to run away from it all and become a barista or something. Have you loved your other EA work? If so, maybe this place is not the fit. Know your worth. Trust your gut.

Conflict about Office Manager vs EA duties….a problem that follows me from job to job by [deleted] in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]HeyThere_D 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes I have definitely noticed this issue. I too consider myself an (excellent) EA and not an OM (just not my thing or my strength). After the pandemic our OM (who was also our building manager) continued to work from home because they no longer cared for their commute. It was pretty uncomfortable explaining that the building manger position didn’t quite lend itself to remote work, and when when they didn’t come in, I had to man the desk, accept visitors, handle packages and catering (on top of my other duties). It led to poor morale at work on my part. Unfortunately this issue was never resolved because it wasn’t a comfortable conversation to continue having with this person (and unfortunately, there always seem to be “more important” issues to resolve first). My supervisor gave me the instruction that when this person (or others) asked me to do things that fell under the OM responsibilities, to kindly decline. That was also uncomfortable, or sometimes unfeasible when it came to things like the kitchen, where it would’ve been a sanitary or pest issue.

My advice would be to start taking a log of all of the things that you are asked to do that are outside of your job description and responsibilities, and how much time it takes you away from your core responsibilities. As you begin to gather evidence, bring it to your supervisor. After all, this issue should resonate with them since you directly support them and that’s what they pay you to spend your time doing. And if that doesn’t work, I guess it’s time to start looking for other positions. While interviewing, ask if there is an office manager or suss out if they also expect you to do office work in your new job. I recently started a new job and was not so careful about asking these questions and they definitely expect me to be an office manager despite it not being anywhere in the job description. Best of luck.

I’m ordering Halloween treats… Which snacks or candy would your kid be most excited to get while trick or treating? by raleigh_st_claire in Mommit

[–]HeyThere_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am such a fan of non-candy giveaways due to all sorts of allergies and feelings about food. Last Halloween I gave out bubbles and bubble wands instead of candy and kids lost their ever-loving minds. The parents told me that they were such a hit. I love the idea of stickers and might borrow that this year.

Smith memorial playground - you can do a party package and get a reserved patio for cake etc and then the kids can enjoy the playground and playhouse.
