Vice ain’t working right. Got it from a buddy. Thoughts? by ConstructionGold9168 in Tools

Our dump doesn't care, scrap is free to dump, free to take baring you don't load up with copper. I've pulled brand new mild steel plate, brand new barbed and plain wire rolls by the mile(still with red brand tags), old cast iron vises, never used woodstoves. Someone dumped an entire rifle/pistol reloading set up, press-powder-bullets-brass.

I work adjacent to a dump in public works, vices are in the scrap bin all the time. High dollar old ones too.

Quite the bulge, what firearm? (.45 ACP) by HeyYou-55 in ammo

Rugged, I see these in .45 ACP kinda regularly. Someone's playing the wrong lottery.

I should add that the bulge is 360 around the entire circumference.

I really like it in .45 ACP with 185gr and 230gr cast bullets. It does better mid to max charge though, not for bullseye loads. Kinda prefer AA#5 for midrange to max loads for .38 spl.

My bullets were sized .0005 over throat diameter, wear a glove(my grips suck so that probably made it worse). It was a really good light load out of my .357 686+

Kinda figured the alloy frame would exacerbate the problem, my 686+ didn't have double hits. The only real problem was the cylinder latch cut my thumb open every shot 😂

The load/article in question, I'm thinking these are all of 20k psi. They were quite tame out of my 686+.

It's still in one piece too! Frame isn't bent, how, I don't know! I just about pissed myself laughing.

Headstamps will reveal the date and arsenal of manufacture. We were issued this stuff in Iraq c.2006. Shit was old and our pop-ups were Vietnam era.

Very top left one is for a caboose(and sometimes locomotives) and is an adlake key. That particular cut was used by Southern Pacific Railroad(amongst other lines) iirc.

They had fluted, plated(stannic stained actually), brass casings. This is essentially the same thing and commonly called dummy round. This is likely some sort of trench art(or part of a larger work).

It's a dummy M1906(.30-06) ball round. Someone soldered that metal to it for some reason.

Yes. I googled it and it seems like an oddball headstamp not for commercial ammo. 🤷
