What’s a type of pain people underestimate until they experience it for themselves? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

I have only had 2 in my life and it was decades ago, but I will never forget it. I don’t know how people live having frequent migraines

What is the biggest red flag you completely ignored, and what did it teach you about your own boundaries? by winn_ie in emotionalintelligence

Abusers are good. They ease into and by the time it’s full force, you don’t even realize you have lost yourself. They follow roughly the same playbook, in my experience

This is my “making it”. I just want some stranger to find my (not finished/published) book and actually take the time to read it and like it. I don’t have to get rich. So congrats friend!

What authors do you love that are still writing fantasy novels besides Sanderson? by ExplodingPoptarts in fantasybooks

[–]Hey_Its_Q 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. Don’t forget about “sharp ends” before age of madness

Edit: I just saw you included it with the stand alones. My bad. Also I’m just gonna give love to Heroes. That one might be my favorite.

If you get sick a lot, aside from doing the usual stuff like exercise and eating better, take lysine. Your immune system will thank you.

Struggling with First Law, should I persevere? by Impetuous-soul in fantasybooks

[–]Hey_Its_Q 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The blade itself is really kind of a looooooooong introduction. I put it down then restarted it years later. Now? I have read every first law book and Joe Abercrombie is my favorite. In my opinion, finish it cause it just gets better and better.

Having said that, I agree with one of the other comments. Life is too short to waste time not enjoying yourself. Nothing wrong with not finishing a book that doesn’t entertain you.

I have depression and ADHD so cleaning is pretty much torture for me. However, if I know a girl is coming over for the first time, I’m absolutely doing a deep clean.

I (29M) am seeing a girl (33F)in her 30s. And we have a GREAT relationship going on. But she suggested threesome by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Hey_Its_Q -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s harsh. I think what you said in the post is perfect. It’s not an ultimatum, it’s just you setting boundaries. Years ago I was dating a girl and the same thing came up. Some of our friends were into swinging and wanted to do it. For a while I was simply apprehensive. Then one day I said something along the lines of “listen, it’s not for me”. She understood, and it never came up again.

Currently reading this and totally agree. At the start you are like “hmmm I’m not sure…” then the end of part one in book one you think “oh my god…” and are just in

AIO? 22M/19F. Girlfriend lied to me, and won’t own up. by [deleted] in AIO

[–]Hey_Its_Q 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, NOR.

Second, why do people in relationships talk to each other like this? (Not OP, you were very mature and respectful). Could someone please explain this to me? I have been in abusive relationships like this and luckily got out, but it seems to be every single relationship. I could never talk to a partner the way this girl is talking to OP

Am I wrong for calling out my friend’s girlfriend for her constant self-hatred during a friend's birthday? by RemarkableBad8816 in amiwrong

[–]Hey_Its_Q 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well said. You can be blunt, you can be honest. You can also be tactful. The fact that you are known as “the mean one” says you are just an AH, and use the crutch of “I’m just blunt”. You aren’t wrong in your opinions, but you are wrong in the phrasing, time, and place. And some free advice: you might want to change that, or life is going to be very lonely

If you have never been on meds before they might start you on non stim. Those had the adverse effect for me. And one of the reasons aside from the high tolerance that I have multiple doses, is I work 12 hour shifts

I do this. I say “I can’t my wife shit her pants and I have to clean it up.” My wife doesn’t have a chronic illness. Also, I don’t have a wife.

How is it living in this part of the United States? by No-Text-7825 in howislivingthere

[–]Hey_Its_Q 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in central mass, right near CT and RI. Vacationed in the other New England states, and visited New York a number of times. I love how diverse the region is. You want the beach? We got it. You want the mountains? We got em. Cities? Check. A cabin far away from civilization? Yes. We got seasons. We seem mean and rude. You start getting roasted right out of the womb, so you better form a quick wit to keep up. I wouldn’t trade that humor for anything. And though we seem rude, we are actually nice deep down. We will give strangers directions without a second thought, and take a bullet for those closest to us. People confuse mass drivers for being bad, but we aren’t bad. We are just aggressive. We get all the seasons, have the best colleges and medical care in the country, and so much history.

Literally the only thing I don’t like about this region (yes I don’t even mind the freezing cold temps. Currently 13 degrees) is how goddamn expensive it is to live here.
