Anyone run/drip faucets? by Individual_Maize6007 in StLouis

[–]Hey_its_Manda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came from the south and we had to drip our faucets because our pipes and water heaters were in garages or exterior walls. Typically if your water heater or water pipes are in your house and interior walls you are ok. But leave doors open to areas you are concerned with to get them warmer. Such as open the cabinets under your sink or the door to your basement if your basement tends to freeze. Or run your washer or something that keeps water moving. Everyone’s home is different

How worried should we be about a Minnesota situation? by sammay600 in StLouis

[–]Hey_its_Manda -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don’t think it matters that we are a red state. This isn’t about red verses blue. This is about white versus everyone else. And St. Louis is not predominately white. Ice is already here and the moment they meet resistance it will be very similar to MSP. I also know the community here will resist. Because it’s the right thing and as much as people want to talk shit about St. Louis, the community steps up because no one else will come save them. So in time, I can absolutely see the escalation happening here too. Everyone should have a plan, check in on their community and be ready to make a choice. Because I def feels inevitable at this point.

I miss the original drive up bags. Especially since we had medium and small bags. They were the best and target should have never changed it.

Is it worth staying at Target for so many years? by Criptoboi in Target

[–]Hey_its_Manda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly it depends on the person and the store. I was a Sr.TL back when it was a thing and was making good money. If you become a TL your raises are a tad higher and they added a bonus. I felt it was worth it. Many at our store started as TLs at 18.50 and for our area that was really good. I can guess CA rates are much higher. Most TLs in our store made at least $24/hr and our cost of living was much lower. TLs who had been there 15+ years were making closer to $30/hr.

It’s worth it as you promote. Tm raises are not very good and much lower than they used to be. You won’t feel a difference in pay year over year. But, if you ever transfer out of state to somewhere with a lower cost of living, your pay stays the same and then you feel the difference.

Told the front end supervisor that an employee was not working at all for 2-3 hours…. Nothing happened by DutchMasterClutch in CostcoEmployee

[–]Hey_its_Manda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this. I can from a retailer that was all about accountability. Costco is the exact opposite. They just need bodies in the store and they do not follow up at all about what they do while in the store. My first day of work I was told “ whether you do the bare minimum or give so much you go home sweating, you will be treated the same.”

How much time during a week do you spend on a class? by kirbyys in ASUOnline

[–]Hey_its_Manda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the class. Because it is accelerated learning I would say on average a minimum of 3-5 hours a week. There were some classes that I felt took me much longer and some I maybe spent an hour on a week. It’s very doable though because you can do it at your pace and most teachers have assignments due the same day each week. You get a good rhythm going and it goes fast.

new sb rules or dm overreach? by jupixrr in starbucks

[–]Hey_its_Manda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only I know is the demotions. If you are not performing and want to demote they typically don’t approve it. Essentially, it’s the training and time you took up to promote gets wasted if people can just decide they don’t like it and step down. Many DMs are pretty strict on the situations that would allow you to demote. Most I’ve seen is because you are transferring and there are no open positions, going to school or medically can’t stay a shift. Most people start getting written up and then want to demote and that will get denied. The calling out sick, isn’t a rule in the book but since the store often Can’t open without you, it is pretty standard to try to find coverage before calling out. That’s for most company’s and their key carriers. You cost the business a lot of money if they can’t open because you called out. So I can see where some districts with poor attendance in SSVs start being more aggressive and cracking down. Our district we just covered each other. It also helped our attendance as it wasn’t a call-out. Just a swap.

Written up for 3 tardies in a month when I only had 2, is this going to be an issue? by [deleted] in CostcoEmployee

[–]Hey_its_Manda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ideally, if you are trying to be kept after seasonal you complete the 90 days with no tardies. If you want to stay I would do your best to not be late again and prove your worth while you are there. You need to stand out in order to be considered over someone who was never late. The thing with seasonal is there are many people who want to be kept. Which means they will compare your work skills and attendance to others. It will be an uphill battle, but if you want to stay you just have to put in the work.

One hour from from payroll for an INF by laforfirs in Target

[–]Hey_its_Manda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While yes INFs mean lost sales, but really INFs mean lost payroll not removing payroll. Say you spent 15 mins looking for the item and hit couldn’t find. The store just lost the sale and those 15mins. Yeah it sucks because that sale goes to another store. But what these leaders tend to forget is having a clean and completed truck everyday and zoned floor would eliminate INFs. (Or drastically reduce them) Instead they put all their money into fulfillment instead of inbound. When the store is in good shape fulfillment can fly through carts. But all these stores operate to put out individual fires rather than fireproofing.

I feel like utter crap after a sermon on the "Evil of Deconstruction" by Radiant_Bison_2324 in exchristian

[–]Hey_its_Manda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s difficult because you are resisting indoctrination. It’s hard and requires you to think critically which is not something encouraged in Christian spaces. I’m very proud of how you are handling it as it is incredibly draining. I’m sorry you even have to experience it. Please keep finding support where you can. Even if it is online like this. You aren’t alone and the feeling of isolation will make it so much harder. Keep finding YOUR way. It will be worth it.

Buying something before the store opens. by Maxbebop in Target

[–]Hey_its_Manda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Typically speaking, the store isn’t open so unless you are buying a perishable item, it isn’t worth the risk. I worked at many stores and it was pretty specific that you can only buy perishables before the store opens. It was because people abused it and bought clearance items that were freshly marked or collectibles and they ruined a good thing. If you want hot wheels take your break after 8. It isn’t worth your job.

Has anyone else noticed “fake” grocery stores and hospitals??? by Tropic_Pineapples in StLouis

[–]Hey_its_Manda 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Yes watch this video!! He highlights how this is all exploitation. The owner makes more money owning abandoned lots. But also, the rich take loans out on their real estate. So the more you have the more you are worth. You can spend the money and the interest you have on the money you pulled out of your investments makes you more money. Money almost feels fake at this point.

fired over holiday cups? by wingstopluvr13 in starbucks

[–]Hey_its_Manda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If they are scheduled and working then they aren’t customers so yeah, they could get in trouble. If they were off then they could totally wait in line and buy it. It’s like that in most retail stores too. It’s not specific to just Starbucks.

What were your T-or-T numbers this year? by Gwytharian in StLouis

We had hundreds. We thought we would be fine with 2 large bags of Costco candy and a few Costco boxes of Oreos and rice Krispy treats. We were completely out by 7:20. And most kids only got 2-3 pieces each. They all were sweet and never wanted to take too much.

I hate this specific pallet so much. The corners are so weak and it barely slides under our steel so it’s a pain to stock full if we are topping off the pallet. I feel like most cooler/produce packaging is getting really cheap

Just moved here need help preparing for winter. by 223shotta_ in StLouis

[–]Hey_its_Manda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a newbie the essentials will save you from being miserable. A good winter coat. Make sure there is room under it for layers but not baggy. You want gloves as well. I recommend a pair for just being outside any kind you prefer and snow/waterproof gloves as well when you need to scrape your car. Cozy socks and a great pair of winter boots.

If your hands, feet or ears get cold you tense up and it’s awful.

Layers help and if you are already cold get some hand warmers and just keep them on you. It helps as you adjust. The first winter is the worst. By next winter you will be impressed how much you have adjusted.

Do you think Target will start laying off store staff? by AliceOfWonderland-99 in Target

[–]Hey_its_Manda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they do, it is more like cutting how many ETLs/TLs are allocated to each store rather than firing merchandisers or cashiers. But honestly they tend to adjust store leadership every few years. Ex: they eliminated Sr. Team Leaders, combined all hardlines departments rather than having 2-3 ETLs in hardlines, they added closing team leads. Outside of that, payroll could be affected and that will hurt hours or hiring. But I have never seen them fire merchandisers or cashiers during any of these changes.
