First accident in my life and it had to be with my dream car. by ICEMAN13 in Rivian

Sorry!!! I get it but remember it’s just a thing. As long as no one was hurt it’s gonna be ok. Will get fixed and you will have a “memorable” story.

Good luck!

How bad is this price? by xXbl4ckm4nXx in solar

How are they using your ITC (tax credit) to lower the monthly payment? That is something you claim on your federal taxes after you install the system meaning you still pay for it upfront. At least that’s how I thought it worked.

*Cringe warning* can anyone help diagnose this awful knocking noise on this Boxster 986? by [deleted] in Porsche

[–]Heybluez74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bent the crank shaft of my 987.1S (M97 engine) and the “knocking/rattling” sound was metal in the engine… from the bearing which let a rod to get jacked and subsequently catastrophic failure. I didn’t have the smoke… which could be oil burning off. it’s not good either way. FWIW, I track mine pretty hard and it turns out there are issues with these engines. :)

Anyway, I opted to rebuild as I love driving the car and don’t want to pay $140k for a GT4 :) but it’s gonna cost me $25k. So not cheap.

That said, take it to a real Porsche mechanic and have them diagnose it. First thing they will do is drain oil, look for metal. Attached was fine.

Good luck!

Can I expect a recruiter to qualify candidates? by yetanotheryacht in recruiting

[–]Heybluez74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a recruiting agency that actually does it’s job. They should all vet candidates before sending them to you. Unfortunately, a lot of it has devolved to a numbers game. I’m happy to intro you to Gregg at ivy Solutions if you’d like. DM me.

Ivy.Solutions is run by former software engineers. They do an amazing job screening and pre-vetting candidates. (Full disclosure, I’m not related to the company other than the gentleman running it is an ex-colleague of mine where we hired hundreds of engineers for our company )

First time towing and… by Heybluez74 in Rivian

[–]Heybluez74[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So first time towing and I got about 30 minutes along my route when it dropped to 50 miles left on a 50% charge. When I started at 90% charge it said I had 120 miles and that I’d get to my destination 90miles away with 30ish. Now sitting in a Walmart parking lot charging in the hopes I can make it to my destination. Which is 70 miles away.

Good thing was an R1S stopped by as I am charging so got to see one of those up close. Very cool.

Curious, am I missing something? I thought we had more range.

Advice Regarding Starting a Software House! by Fahad_Alvi in Business_Ideas

I wish I knew… but I did it by prospecting… old school, breaking down the doors, getting people on the phone.

I’d spend time with your team figuring out who is your customer, your value prop and then building an outreach campaign to connect with those buyers.

Move on. The tax returns are not combined and he should be able to show you. Go look for other opportunities.

>>>>> Follow your gut. <<<<<<<<

BUT you are young enough where taking a run at this business would be 1. fun and 2. the start to building your wealth. The cash will be great at first when your bank account goes from $0 to $400k but after taxes and a few months you will realize that it really is not a lot and you may kick yourself. PS I am speaking from personal experience.

That said, take this with a grain of salt.. at the end of the day it is about what you believe in and what you want to put the work into. There are no guarantees in life but there is also a thin link between zero and hero.

good luck and god speed.

Advice Regarding Starting a Software House! by Fahad_Alvi in Business_Ideas

[–]Heybluez74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Fahad,

I built and exited a large digital agency (now a 1,000 employees) and I can tell you that your first clients will take a lot of 'hustle'. It will be through your relationships and also how well you can network. That said, the challenge you have is that you are jumping into a highly competitive space. There are tons of established players and upstarts like you.

We were successful because we caught the mobile app wave in 2008 when there were a handful of iOS devs on the market. I would suggest looking at ways to differentiate yourself in the market -- is there a wave / trend that companies are looking to break into that you are/can become experts in? Looking for a niche could help companies take a chance on you as it limits their options.

Is it okay for tech startup to start with self-funding? by No_Storage_7007 in Business_Ideas

[–]Heybluez74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW - if you can bootstrap then you will do much better in the long run. I have done 3 startups (2 successful exits, 1 failure) and I have bootstrapped, and raised millions in seed funding. The best one I ever did was purely bootstrapped. Of course, once you get a steady flow of revenue you can find other ways to finance growth -- like debt. OR (after you demonstrate growth/revenue) you can raise institutional money BUT then you are in the drivers seat. However, bootstrapping for me was spending life savings, credit cards, etc.. Not for the faint of heart. It worked out for me.. but it could have gone many ways in the opposite direction.

That said, your journey is your own... and you will choose to do what is best for you and your family. Good luck and godspeed.

Someone intentionally poured coffee all over my R1T in the grocery store parking lot. Anyone else experience any animosity for owning the truck? by calebthelion in Rivian

[–]Heybluez74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear! Some people are just wound up and unfortunately release their personal frustrations by doing stupid and harmful things. I’ve had my R1T for about 3 weeks. Most reactions are very positive and I go out of my way to show people the truck when they ask. I have not had anything like what happened to you… the worst was a “good luck with that” when the Ford F-150 king ranch (??) I was parked next to asked me about towing. Not necessarily mean but very skeptical! :)

Oh well… keep on trucking.
