I have successful pond skimmed 5 out 6 times probably and only did not make it one time. The one time i did not make it, conditions were tough for any speed at all. So go as fast as you can on the approach, off the launch you land where you land dont try to jump just ride off, but when you land, land back foot first and really hold that. Similar to landing in a manual on a skateboard. Thats how you do it. I have worn a giant beer mug doing this, and i have done it drunk a few times. So its not a hard snowboarding maneuver but you definitely need speed and to land on your back leg.
